Is Germany safe for solo female travelers?

Germany is generally a very safe destination for solo female travelers. The crime rate is low and local citizens are typically courteous and helpful. Public transportation, including trains and busses, is widely available and secure. Nevertheless, previously would be wise to respect general safety guidelines as in any other place, such as avoiding isolated areas late at night and being aware of your belongings. German people usually speak English, which makes communication easier. Remember, always trust your instincts.

Hamburg, Solo travel

What a beautiful city to visit in summertime:) There are some many things to do here: visit Miniatur Wunderland (remember to booked the ticket in advance), the Elb river, Elbphilharmonie, Speicherstadt, the Bunker, Elbtunnel, two Bundesliga teams (St.Pauli and HSV), and so many more:) Small tips: you can take some of the ferries for free, instead of paying for the tourist ships, check online in advance! I recommend to stay more than four days here, including weekends since there are markets...

Berlin, Group travel

Berlin was really beautiful. I always heard that the city is lame or boring but I had so much fun there, I traveled with one friend and it was very safe!! People are so collaborative and help a lot. However, honestly, I felt minor racism, but it was all amazing!

Bremen 2025: great beer and coffee, friendly climbing gym, beautiful architecture and perfect routes for running. Warm days, relaxed pace, cosy cafés and an easy city to enjoy actively outside Summer.

Berlin

Berlin is very safe. Especially districts such as Friedrichshain, Kreuzberg, Prenzlauer Berg, Mitte, Schöneberg, etc. I feel very safe as a woman everywhere, I grew up here. But of course everywhere there crimes, illegal networks and voilence. Yet in Berlin as a normal citizen, you are extremely safe. Also as a woman. There is so many people everywhere, you‘ll never find yourself in a scary alley when you are in Berlin Center. Berlin lives from diversity and many people that come from all over...

Halle

Halle is generally safe, however there are a lot of bicycle thefts, and Halle Neustadt is at daytime and especially at night very unsafe, there are a lot of armed robberies. In addition to that, you should avoid the areas near the train main station, there are a lot of drug dealers.

Rheinbach

It’s a cute little town at the foot of the Eifel. Has a lots of old houses and was famous during the Witchhunt times (but we don’t do this here anymore). It’s around 35km away from Bonn/ Köln and also the airport.
