I have been living here for almost a year and no incidents to mention so far. I frequently walk home at night and I never felt not safe doing so. I also haven't witnessed any harassments in public so far.
Posted: March 29, 2025The city of Cologne is, in my opinion, quite safe. I'm more familiar with the left side of the Rhine, and I've never really felt in danger. I know that sometimes the area around the train station can be intimidating, but there are always law enforcement officers, so there's nothing to worry about :). I would just suggest maybe avoiding certain neighborhoods like Kalk.

Hannover is generally a safe city where I feel comfortable exploring. However, around the main train station (as in most German cities), you’ll often notice groups of homeless individuals and those dealing with substance abuse. While they usually keep to themselves, their interactions can sometimes be loud or might cause some disturbances. There’s a consistent police presence in these areas, which helps maintain a sense of security. By staying aware of your surroundings, especially near the train station, you can confidently enjoy all that Hannover has to offer.
Posted: March 27, 2025All in all, Hamburg is a very safe place. However, as anywhere in the world, being a woman (or non-binary, transgender, just in general not-hetero-male person) it is possible to hearing some comments or being harrassed, especially by cis-men in the evenings or at night. So sometimes that feels a bit annoying or unsafe, but usually people around you are alert and step in or police will be there if anything major happens.
Posted: March 27, 2025It‘s a small town, there’s not so much going on. You might get catcalled, but even that doesn’t really happen often. I‘ve lived here all my life and I‘d say it’s a nice slow and I‘d say safe everyday life.

I’m living a bit outside the city center. It’s very safe there, and there’s almost no crime. In the city center, however, it’s a bit less safe. If you go out during the day, you don’t have to worry. At night, you should try to go in a group or tay in public and crowded areas

It's a pretty small town but the city centre and the main places are pretty safe. As a woman you will never feel 100% comfortable in any city but especially during the day nothing bad will really happen.

Cologne is overall pretty safe, normal precautions are advised. But, I have only rarely experienced trouble in the last 8 years of living here. Germans rarely catcall, if ever. Typically only during Karneval and generally while partying are the men more sexually aggressive.
Posted: March 26, 2025Being living here for more than two years and I always feel safe. I have walked in the streets at all hours and wasn’t bothered by anyone. The public transport are also safe. Just take of your bikes as they get stolen a lot.
Posted: March 26, 2025It's a very small town, which actually makes me feel pretty safe here, although the political situation in this area is not the best. I've encountered some strange people, but I've never really felt unsafe.

My friend and I did a 5 day trip to Berlin to see Sabrina Carpenter and here’s how our experience of the city was! What we did: Activities: Berlin Zoo, Dungeon Sights: Bradenburg Gate, Reichstag Building, Holocaust Memorial, Checkpoint Charlie, Berlin Dom, Museum Island, Berlin Wall, East Side Gallery, RAW-Gelände ⭐️ Recommendations: + We really liked all the places I just listed! + Museum Island was so pretty, I could have soent all day just walking around the area and all the gorgeous buildings! A picnic in sunset would be beautiful there + The Zoo was super nice, especially to my friend who had never bene to one! - RAW-Gelände seemed cooler on TikTok, but might be that we just visited at a bad time! 🛏️ Accommodation: We stayed at the a&o Hostel Mitte, which was rather good for the price we paid! The location was quite nice, between city centre and East Side Gallery, just a 10min walk away from Ostbahnhof station. The hostel was huge and had a lot of school kids so was a bit noisy at times and not perhaps on the cleanest side - but not gonna complain for the 13€/night we paid! 🚗 Getting around: During the 5 days that we stayed, there was a public transport strike for 2 days so we had to take Ubers more than we would have wanted to! The oublic transportation seemed really good otherwise, and getting tickets from the BVG app was easy. We took the day ticket (24 Stunden) twice, and it was 12,30€ so jot too bad at all! Ubers were roughly 10-12€ for the short rides we took. Also used the scooters at some point, big recommendation for them too! 💸 Budget: In total I spent around 300€ so roughly 60€/day, including accommodation, transportation, food, sights and shopping. Accommodation: 13€/night in a hostel Public transport: roughly 2-20€ day Food: 15-35€/day Activities: 40€ total (excluding the concert lol) 🚨Safety: We both felt quite safe even walking at night. Our hostel was located near KitKat and Tresot which was supposed to be sketchier area (at least according to the hostel reviews lol) but we didn’t feel unsafe. Overall tips: • Carry some cash with you as some stores and restaurants might mot accept card payments! • If you are planning on going to museums or doing activities etc, book in advance! You might save money, and some places are booked out fast! We for example weren’t able to go in the Reichstag Building without booking days in advance. • Take pics in the Photoautomats! The city has photobooths everywhere, definitely get some photos as a memory. We paid 3-5€ for a set of 4 pics :)

What I did in Munich: Visited BMW Museum Visited Olympic Park Liked around Mariaplatz Square Ate a traditional meal in Mariaplatz Visited and took a tour of Bayern-München Allianz Stadium I was there a day and a half total. It was very safe and clean, the people are friendly to help guide me for transportation, all the places I visited to I was satisfied. I’m not a Maylee car person but it was cool to see the BMW museum and they have free bathrooms WC:) The Olympic park was very pretty and has a little hike at a hill you can see great views from. I felt safe even getting off my bus at 2AM, but kept being aware of my surroundings. Hostels are about $20-$25 USD a night. I highly recommend Munich!!

Hi 🌞 I’m a German student doing an internship in Norway this summer. I am looking for opportunities to meet locals or other travelers in Norway, Sweden and Denmark.
Katharina
Hi!, My name is Katharina. I am 20 years old and I am studying social Work in Germany. When I am on holidays I love to travel and meet new people on my journeys. After I graduated high-school I went for a one year journey to Finland. It was a great experience to get to know locals and learn about the culture of the country. After that I always wanted to have those kind of experiences again when I am travelling. So I am always interested in meeting new people when I am on my journeys. I am an open person and I love to meet people but I would describe myself also like a little bit shy. I am a calm person and besides the big adventures I also like to just drink a cup of tee and relax. I'm interested in backpacking, camping, culture, events, hiking, nightlife, swimming, writing and sunbathing. Especially I love music. Listening to it and sometimes try to do it myself :)
