Siegen is one of the safest cities in Germany. You can easily use public transport, or you can walk late at night after a party without worrying about anything. I haven't heard of any harassments since I came here.

I think it depends on where you are going. It’s not about the neighbourhood but about certain streets to avoid. Sometimes it’s easier said than done but try to look confident, friendly but assertive. I personally never had problems in Frankfurt. Stay close to your friends and in case be loud and ask (other locals) for help.

Freiburg is one of the safest places I know. Creepy people are everywhere, but here is a lot of alternative, left and conscious and very aware people. You could ask people to support you everywhere. On parties or alternative places you most of the time have an awareness team.

Due to the high number of refugees from 3rd world countries where women have less/ no rights, it's safe to say that we have to be more cautious than 10-15 years ago. Stick to the populated areas, but be cautious and aware of your surroundings. Women are being stared at and harassed mostly by these people.
Posted: June 30, 2025Penzberg is a very calm and peaceful small city to live in. I go everyday on walks with my loving dog and never have I once felt unsafe….. The area overall is a rural area very close to the Alps with many lakes. In the summer we spend a lot of time outside and also go around on bikes a lot which is a quick and practicales way to get around, also very safe.
Posted: June 30, 2025Leipzig is one of the safer places I've lived. Still, I prefer not to be out alone at night. Sexual harassment happens regularly, as men exist, but it very rarely feels really dangerous, more like a very annoying nuisance.

I went on Christmas holiday. It was pretty cold but there was all the Christmas decoration and the atmosphere was incredibly welcoming. I was with my family and we stayed in an hostel. During the day I organized a sort of tour to visit the most famous thing like the Berlin wall. I loved that city.
