I have lived in Munich my whole life and travelled a lot, and nothing compares to the safety I feel in the streets of Munich. Of course there are the worries shared by women across the globe that sometimes also creep into my mind, but in general even at night i have not had a bad experience.

Munich is by far one of the safest cities in Germany, so you not necessarily have to worry about anything but you know men exist and you might get catcalled or get an unnecessary comment here and there

We have lots of police officers in public places. For sure there are criminals like in every other big city in Germany but I feel pretty safe. I just don’t like walking in the dark at all. If I needed help other people were very kind and helpful.
Posted: February 26, 2025Munich is super beautiful. During the day, I already felt safe, of course, it is a big city and unfortunately, you sometimes get strange looks in the subway. Alone, I would be scared at the train station or in such surroundings.
Posted: February 19, 2025All in all Munich is a pretty clean and safe city but like any place on this planet you have to be a bit more careful as a woman. Maybe dont travel by yourself when it gets dark. Most of the time men will 'only' make a few stupid comments but you neuer know for sure.

Compared to most cities that big I think it’s pretty safe. However being a woman unfortunately you always feel not 100% safe. It’s not about the city it’s more about men in general. If you go to certain party areas or Octoberfest there’s a high chance meeting really weird men.

I find it mostly very safe Uncomfortable situations can happen during big events like the Oktoberfest or for example Football Games These events can be avoided and usually there is a lot of security and police around to keep the town safe during these big events

Overall, Munich is very safe, compared to other big citys in Germany (apart from the Oktoberfest and a few areas outside the city center). You shouldn't be alone at the big train stations (like Hauptbahnhof and Ostbahnhof) at night, and you should be at least a little bit careful walking alone at night. But most of the time I move around the city, also at night, without any major worries, rarely does anything happen here. The general crime rate in Munich is very low. However, I am white and racism in Germany is getting worse, so I can't say what it's like for PoCs.
Posted: February 11, 2025In my opinion Munich is the safest city I’ve ever lived in. I’m not scared or worried when I walk home by myself. Everyone is very helpful and friendly. Moreover the public transport also works very well during the night time. Therefore it’s easy to get home fast and safely.
Posted: February 4, 2025Munich is a very clean and safe city, not much going on at night, the Hauptbahnhof is slightly dodgy but not something to be worried about, just drunk people usually. There are Taxi Vouchers that you can get at the city libraries which give you 10€ discount on taxi rides, but only valid from 22-6am and only for women.

Great parks to visit and the summer is even better. I loved the boat place on the bridge (do not remember the name). Architecture and streets are great for all day strolling around. Plus Christmas markets are really getting you in the mood!
Posted: February 18, 2025I felt extremely safe, munich is a very safe city except for the Oktoberfest time because of all the tourists which are usually very drunk and act stupidly, other than that i felt very safe i took the U-ban (metro) alone everywhere. German food, in general, isn't that great. They have hood bread, tho. I recommend going to the BMW museum (if u like cars), the Olympia park, Marienplatz, Englischer Garten, Eisbachwelle (surfers wave), Hofgarten. And if u like hiking, there is Neuschwanstein castle and Marienbrücke (not exactly IN the city). If u want to experience the Oktoberfest vibes but don't like the crowds (which there are a lot of) (it's very overcrowded), i recommend going in mid april and attending the Frühlingsfest which is the same but not as well known so less people and more fun. I think it lasts about 2 weeks.

Hello I'm Cecilia. I love travelling and learning new languages. I also like to write poems and successfully turn one of them into a song (it's on music platforms! Check the link above to check my music out). A bit introverted but when we get to know each other, we'll have so much fun!
