Munich is a very safe city over all. I have lived four/five years here now and I have had “only” experienced sexual harassment twice/three times. Nothing happened since there were people around that helped. However I never leave my guard down, there are annoying, stupid, drunk men anywhere in the world. The farther out of the center one goes, the higher the possibility for this on the street. Also in summer around the Isar and Gärtnerplatz as soon as the sun starts setting the crowd changes, unless you’re with friends I hate going there alone. In the center near and in the Biergarten there will most definitely be drunk guys hitting on you with out mercy, often these people are tourists. I usually stay clear from the big Biergärten there are really nice small local Biergarten all over Munich as an alternative. When it comes to stealing I think Munich is an extremely safe space. If you are alone and need to go to the bathroom but can’t take your stuff, for example you can just ask a nearby stranger to keep an eye on your stuff. People here when asked will feel responsible to help. You might see some people that seem “crazy” around the center and in public transportation. They are usually people outcast from society or homeless, they can get aggressive if they feel undermined. They are usually harmless, but might want to engage with you. Just don’t look at them or respond and change seats if you’re in public transportation or just leave. I have never really felt threatened by these people. Okay I hope this helped! I love Munich and in general I feel super safe! But things can happen anywhere so trust your judgment! I hope you have a great time :)

Munich is perfectly safe at all times of the day and night. No issues walking around after dark. Creole rates are very low. Some people/places around the central train station may look a bit dodgy but are harmless.
Posted: January 16, 2025Munich is super safe - as with every city be cautious of your surroundings, especially around train stations or tourist attractions. Very clean city with mostly lovely people. Only area that used to have a reputation is München Ost around the train station but even that has become better as it’s become a culture hub that is worth checking out

I think Munich is a really safe city. You can go clubbing or in bars without having to worry about being safe and getting safe home. We also have a lot of public transport and Ubers and taxis to take to come home safe.
Posted: January 16, 2025Munich could be considered as more of a safe city, but there is a lot of catcalling on the streets. To say the least, if ur not used to big city nightlife, i wouldnt recommend out in the night alone.
Posted: January 14, 2025I would say Munich is like any other large city. As a woman, it's always a bit eerie, especially on the subway and in the less crowded streets of the city. However, in the main pedestrian area between Marienplatz and Stachus, I have always felt relatively safe because there are always many people there.

Munich is one of the richest city’s in Germany with a very low crime rate. It’s really safe here. You won’t need to worry about going out alone. People are very friendly and I feel like if there was anything going on you‘d get some help.
Posted: January 9, 2025There are always people around during all times so you‘re never really all alone in case something happens. All the subway stations are bright and very clean. In general all public transportation stops have lights (so bus stops, tram station, etc).
Posted: January 7, 2025I would say Munich is pretty save if you are together with another person Alone it’s like every big city, you should visit places like the main station at night time . The only negative point is the high percentage of being robbed.
Posted: January 7, 2025I live around munich since I was born and feel very safe. I think, of course, it's necessary to have some common sense about being out alone, but I never made a bad experience. It is always possible to get in touch with some drunken strangers, but I never had any struggle with just walking by and losing some friedly words, smiling or didn't even say anything. No one ever followed or harrassed me and I go home by myself a lot. (Even during Oktoberfest)

The place is very nice, I recommend visiting the concentration camp. It is very easy to get there, you take 1 train and 1 bus. I felt pretty safe and before it got dark I returned to the hostel. I hope the information helped you

I was staying in Munich just for a couple of days, so I didn’t have a lot of time, but I like the city so much! I really enjoyed walking by the river. There are bicycles everywhere! Prices are kinda high comparing to Prague where I live, but that’s live. Oh, and I was staying in Wombat’s City Hostel which is an amazing place to stay!
