Hanover is somewhere in the middle when it comes to safety for women. As everywhere there are safer and not so safe areas. I would recommend using my guest bike over walking, especially if you're planning to be out at night.

Hannover is generally a safe city where I feel comfortable exploring. However, around the main train station (as in most German cities), you’ll often notice groups of homeless individuals and those dealing with substance abuse. While they usually keep to themselves, their interactions can sometimes be loud or might cause some disturbances. There’s a consistent police presence in these areas, which helps maintain a sense of security. By staying aware of your surroundings, especially near the train station, you can confidently enjoy all that Hannover has to offer.
Posted: March 27, 2025Hannover is like most big cities in Germany not the safest, but if you don’t stay at the trainstation or “steintor” area, then you’re good. As a woman, I wouldn’t walk around in the dark tho. But I also wouldn’t do that anywhere else so… stay safe :)

It Always depends on the corner of town, but in most ares its not a problem to be outside at night. As i women i try not to do it as much alone but in generel its quite safe. Though its one of germanys highest ranked criminal cities.

It is not the overall safest place but it’s also still mostly safe to walk around. I wouldn’t recommend to walk around really dark places without street light. I mostly call a friend when walking home at night.

Hannover is all in all a pretty safe place. Just some areas especially around Steintor and Raschplatz I wouldnt recomment to go alone as a female in the dark. I already did it and nothing happened it is just not a nice feeling to be alone in this places!
Posted: January 16, 2025Hannover is a pretty safe city. Just don't go to Steintor or the central station at night. Weird people there. Otherwise it's a little weird because most of the time it's just things that get broken or cars somehow suddenly being on roofs?? A little weird

I feel safe in Hannover most of the times even when walking home alone during the night. The public transport is very convenient in my area, so you get home easily. The street lights are bright enough to feel comfortable walking home at night.
Posted: January 9, 2025In Hannover, the drug and crime rate is quite high. I don't feel very comfortable being out alone, but it could be much worse; it's particularly bad at the main train station and at Steintor. However, there are also many police officers around for security reasons.
Posted: December 29, 2024Germany in generally is quite safe. Places like Steintor and Hauptbahnhof have a bad reputation though. I would not worry too much about it, keep an eye on your stuff and act assertive, and you will be fine ;-)
Posted: September 13, 2024I felt safe, but most of the food was greek or Schnitzel there was almost no other kind of meat, it was really cold even if it was august and there was not much to do, just going to the mall and stuff like that, I did like an asian place that had "red curry rice" in the hannover train station mall, it was the best food I tried there, and after 2 years, I still miss it
Posted: December 30, 2024Experienced: July, 2022I think Hannover is a great city to travel. It’s big and modern, which attracts me a lot. I’ve definitely had a great time there. And also I love the buildings there. It’s not single but different kinds of. I love this Variety. It’s like the people there, from different countries and have different views.

I came here from couchsurfing, which I used for 12 years. So I'm an experienced host as well as a guest who follows your house rules. By now, I mainly travel to Italy, because I am in love with the people, the culture, the food and the landscape. As a host I offer a key, so you can come and go as you please. You can get a guest bike if needed. Also, you'll be invited to my table when I cook, if you want to. Just know that I smoke, and I do so inside my apartment. If you can't stand that, please don't ask me to host you, because I am not going outside of my own home. I do so when I'm a guest in your house though.

Hi there! When I'm at my work , you can often find me exploring nature trails with my camera in hand, capturing the beauty of the outdoors one snapshot at a time. I find inspiration in the little details of life, from the way sunlight filters through leaves to the laughter of children playing in the park. As a lifelong learner, I'm constantly seeking out new experiences and perspectives to expand my horizons. Whether i doing some crazy fun adrenalin activitys, learning a new language, or diving into a non-fiction book about a topic I've never explored before, I thrive on the excitement of discovery. Above all, I believe in the power of kindness and empathy to make the world a better place. Whether it's lending a listening ear to a friend in need or volunteering at a local shelter, I strive to make a positive impact in both big and small ways. That's just a little glimpse into who I am. I'm excited to connect with you and learn more about your own story!
