Germany
I can say that I have lived here my whole life and I would say that there are definitely much worse places than this one. If anyone would like any questions answered then please write to me and I will do my best to help. 😊

Germany
I've been there a few times because my boyfriend lives there, and it's actually pretty quiet, especially in the mornings, and on weekends, there are often a few stalls to visit. It's also one of the most welcoming places for international students. 😁
Posted: April 14, 2025Experienced: March, 2025For me it was a little difficult, sometimes I felt alone and had no one to go out with, there aren't that many things to do and they don't have festivals or as much street music as I expected there would be, the people are friendly but they don't make much of an effort to include you, unfortunately the first day I arrived I had a very persistent experience in terms of xenophobia but nothing went wrong.

I visited Dortmund and Berlin and enjoyed both. Dortmund had a more relaxed laid back feel to it, while Berlin was a bit more exciting. Due to some mishaps in my schedule I arrived in both cities in the evening and the walk from the airport/train station to my hotels was a lil scary since there was barely anyone on the streets with the lights dim. At the end of the day, I was still very safe and didn’t have any uncomfortable encounters. The food wasn’t quite as good for me as everything I’ve tried during my other trips, I’d say their potatoes were quite good tho! The locals are very friendly and genuinely helpful!! Amazing culture, which made me feel very comfortable.

I felt mostly safe, my biggest enemy was ice which was everywhereee and I almost slipped a few times (I wore Dr. Martens which are the only winter shoes I have). Main focus of my yourney was kpop concert(Ateez) so I went to kpop and pop up shops, Asia store (for some korean snacks) visited Eastern Wall, spent some time on Alexander Platz, went to a Planetarium, saw Alexander Turm(not on the inside too expensive you can skip that), ate rolls at Cinnamood, tried Burger at Burgermeister, went to some asian restaurant (Mizumi), tried the allegedly best Boba Tea in Berlin at Cokebuy (personally was not the best), ate the best dumplings at Dumplingworld (I think) and went to a kpop party. All in all amazing experience. Traffic is amazing, you can easily arrive anywhere you need as long as you have google maps and understand even a bit of language although almost everyone speaks English in Berlin.
Posted: April 13, 2025Experienced: January, 2025It was really fun. Though of course was visiting family there so they knew where to take me/what to show me. I was a kid at the time, and didn’t have to pay for anytning food wise thankfully. I remember being given 100 euro for a souvenir, and my cousins took me to a mall for shopping. Just a plain white hoodie with three bananas on it was 88 euros 😅 It’s been years since then, but that’s the thing I remember the most aside from the sky and strawberry picking I did with them.
Posted: April 13, 2025So I stayed in Germany with my family at one of my dads friends in Lowenstein. I think i stayed there for a week, and I enjoyed it A LOT. The peace and quiet of that town is unmeasurable. I loved the architecture and the nature around it. My days were pretty inexpensive as I spent them walking around. I remember a lake being pretty close to the town and you can swim there
Posted: April 11, 2025Experienced: May, 2017I felt so safe in Berlin, even when I walked alone at night as a 16 year old in Mitte! If you like museums, this is the place, they were all very interesting and my favorite was the Deutsche Kinemathek, a good spot for photos too ;) A skip for me would be going up the Fernsehturm, it wasn’t really amusing haha A block away from Mauerpark (fav park ever) it’s a street; Kastanienallee with many restaurants and I loved every single one of them in my stay! My main travel recommendations would be; Alwaaaaays bring cash!!! The Germans value their cash and it’s never guaranteed that your card will be accepted. About the language, young people were my safe space to speak in English, I’d say to please try more with the elderly and speak their language. About public transport, coming from a place where it’s not exactly reliable I loved it in Berlin though some of the schedules were a little weird and the interstate trains…yeah, have 0 expectations because they can cancel last minute, stop completely mid journey or cancel everything for the day. If you’re in a budget you can hop in the bus line 100 or 200 and see the main spots, always validate your ticket before or it’s a big fine! I wouldn’t go into the U-bahn 8 alone at night, it’s doable using it for central locations, though going to the outskirts or 30+ away from the center got me to places where I didn’t feel safe or comfortable My favorite transport was the Straßenbahn and the S-bahn :)

Germany
Despite it not being extraordinarily beautiful/historic/whatever, I really love Wolfsburg! Once you know the good spots, it's awesome! As for safety; as long as you stick to the usual (don't try to out-drink Germans!!), you'll be good It's a really walkable city but I used my bus ticket quite a few times, the bus system in Wolfsburg is great! Hotels I stayed at & liked: 1) DJH Jugendherberge -> cheap (if you sleep in a shared room) & central 2) WOB Hotel -> moderate & central 3) Premier Inn -> more pricey & a 5 minute walk from the city centre Food recommendations: - Wasabi Sushi - Dean & David - Superleggera Bar & Café - Eiscafé S. Marco - Ateliercafé - Eat Grill & Bar Things to do/visit: - Allerpark!! -> my favourite thing about Wolfsburg, you can go for a walk, swim in the sea or the indoor swimming pool, try the climbing track or even visit the football stadium - Brunnen- & Quellenwanderung -> start is at the VW-Bad & there's several walks through the forest you can take - phaeno -> science-museum that is cool for all ages! - see the She-Wolves live -> Wolfsburg's football team are one of the best in the league, they play in the AOK stadium (Allerpark) - Designer Outlet -> for your shopping tour xx - Autostadt -> VW, Porsche, Seat etc. show their new cars & their history - Klieversberg -> you should watch a sunset from that hill!! - Planetarium -> so cool! - Burg Neuhaus -> nice for walking - Fallersleben (including the castle) -> cute part of the city & great for walks Outside of Wolfsburg: - day-trip to Hannover/Braunschweig/Celle - Tierpark Essehof - Harz (region)
Posted: April 10, 2025Experienced: February, 2025i’ve often been to berlin and it’s one of the most interesting cities ever! there are often free concerts and many other free activities to do. the public transport is in compression to other german cities pretty good. also, the markets are worth a visit!

I feel safe going around the city without having to constantly be cautious about the surroundings, also late at night. I have never accoutered any tourist trap in the city also. Public transport is well connected and pickpocketing rarely happens (as far as I know).

It‘s a small city, almost like a village. And it‘s safe, I‘ve been living here for almost 2 years but I don‘t see bad news frequently. There is just harmonius old people and students, therefore no crimes really

Anna
Hey I am Anna, soon to be 24 years old and I am living in the north-west of germany. I am studying at the moment and besides that I am working at a drug store. I am not very out-going but I love to hike, so it might be a good and safer idea to find someone, who will come with me. I'd love to go out more often but I am just not feeling quite safe without anyone close by. In my free time I go camping and fishing with my partner. We visited a few cities and went to some museums or art galleries. I am interested in anything from art to architecture or photography. If you want to know more just text me!
