Erfurt is the capital of Thuringia. It’s still kind of a small city. At least it feels like it. After you lived there a while you know a lot of people and a lot of people know you. It’s pretty common that you get talken to in the city and sometimes people also harass you. Driving at night with the tram is horrible. You get harassed a lot
Posted: January 11, 2025Erfurt is a pretty safe place regarding pickpocketing etc. There might be some catcalling, but you’ll mostly be left alone. Please note though: With the growth oft the fascist party afd there has been a notable rise in racist comments towards poc and insults towards queer or leftist-looking-people (for example on public transport). Stay safe!
Posted: January 7, 2025Overall, Erfurt is pretty safe because the city is not very big, so there are not many people out. There are two places where it is a bit dangerous, especially at night: "Anger" and the main train station. But except for these two places, it's very safe based on my experience.
Posted: January 2, 2025All in one really Safe. Never something happens to me but still worried bc i see what happens to people on the Internet. If you are carefull you are Safe (just don't drink thinks from strangers etc.) Also if you are in a Group its even better
Posted: December 24, 2024I think Erfurt is a quite safe place. I life here for about 2 years and never experienced any kind of really dangerous situation. Sure I am afraid in the dark, especially alone and of course I make myself aware of my surroundings when I walk home but it never happend anything to me or my female friends. What’s important to mention is that although I was never sexually assaulted or attacked in any kind whatsoever it can happen and it happened to other women! But not just to talk about the city in the dark it’s an extremely nice city with friendly people in the daytime. There are lots of small cute coffee shops and interesting historical buildings. Don’t miss your chance to visit this lovely little city. :)

Erfurt is a pretty safe city. I'd avoid hanging around Anger (a center place) after 10 pm, though. Overall there are street lights everywhere, and the police presence is high. During the day, I would not worry at all.
Posted: August 12, 2024I have been living here almost a year and haven’t really experienced something too unpleasant. Overall it’s beautiful and safe city but at night HBF and around Anger street might be filled with rsther sketchy people at times so rather be careful. Also, be careful when you are around Nord Erfurt as sometimes nazis can be seen
Posted: June 21, 2024The german city Erfurt is a place where a lot of students are and in the student groups you feel pretty safe. As a woman obviously you always are going to think about possibilities that could happen to you just to protect yourself but specifically in the city we don’t have these thoughts.
Posted: April 7, 2024Erfurt is a small German City. Besides the „normal“ amount of harrasment which is experienced by almost every woman everywhere, there is nothing to be worried about! At day time there really is nothing to be worried about. At night time you can easily go clubbing or get drinks in bars. The areas which are far from the city Center (Rieth, Wiesenhügel) may be a little more dangerous but I wouldn’t recommend staying in these areas anyhow.
Posted: March 19, 2024Was on a multiple day bicycling tour through Germany. Spent one whole day in Erfurt. Very pretty city and also (without planning) was there during the happening of a music festival. No entry fees which I absolutely loved and very good music and vibes. People dancing everywhere and also nice decorations. That trip made Erfurt one of my favorite cities in Germany.
