I got to know Erfurt as a generally safe city. Not gonna lie as a woman sexual harassment always is a topic but in the night and public transport I do feel safe. When it comes to BIPOC it’s less safe. Friends face a lot of racism and I also witness it a lot unfortunately. It’s still safe but those daily racist structures aren’t neglect-able.
Posted: March 16, 2025Overall safe, just depending on which areas one is in. Central Erfurt is safe. There isn’t really anything to worry about. The outer parts are depend. I don’t know about every one of them. So long as one stays in well lit areas and staying mostly central, it is safe.
Posted: March 3, 2025“In my opinion, Erfurt is very safe. But yeah, unfortunately, as a woman, you always have to be aware of the possibility of harassment, no matter where you are in the world. Erfurt is a small city, so everything is easy to navigate, with good public transportation and actually a lot of police presence.”
Posted: February 17, 2025It’s a nice quiet City with lots of nice buildings and Parks. You can Go for a Walk or Shopping in the city Center. The people there Are nice and friendly. You don’t have to fear Crime or something like that
Posted: February 10, 2025There are many stations you can go when you feel unsafe. There is not a lot of crime here. My worries about being sexual abused etc are just part of being a woman and having to hear about those many many cases it happened worldwide and also in Germany unfortunately ...

small city, a lot of old people, there are a bit unsafe/scary places but it’s still fine to go there, not a lot of crime is happening here I am often going alone by car bus/tram or also go running or biking from the city to my village feels safe!
Posted: January 31, 2025Erfurt is the capital of Thuringia. It’s still kind of a small city. At least it feels like it. After you lived there a while you know a lot of people and a lot of people know you. It’s pretty common that you get talken to in the city and sometimes people also harass you. Driving at night with the tram is horrible. You get harassed a lot
Posted: January 11, 2025Erfurt is a pretty safe place regarding pickpocketing etc. There might be some catcalling, but you’ll mostly be left alone. Please note though: With the growth oft the fascist party afd there has been a notable rise in racist comments towards poc and insults towards queer or leftist-looking-people (for example on public transport). Stay safe!
Posted: January 7, 2025Overall, Erfurt is pretty safe because the city is not very big, so there are not many people out. There are two places where it is a bit dangerous, especially at night: "Anger" and the main train station. But except for these two places, it's very safe based on my experience.
Posted: January 2, 2025All in one really Safe. Never something happens to me but still worried bc i see what happens to people on the Internet. If you are carefull you are Safe (just don't drink thinks from strangers etc.) Also if you are in a Group its even better
Posted: December 24, 2024Was on a multiple day bicycling tour through Germany. Spent one whole day in Erfurt. Very pretty city and also (without planning) was there during the happening of a music festival. No entry fees which I absolutely loved and very good music and vibes. People dancing everywhere and also nice decorations. That trip made Erfurt one of my favorite cities in Germany.
