Stralsund generally feels safe, especially in areas like the Old Town, Frankenvorstadt, and Hafenstadt, which I visit most often and live in. Public transport is calm. The most unpleasant encounters are usually with drunk people rather than truly dangerous individuals, and it’s usually easy to avoid them. Like in any city, some neighborhoods feel less comfortable, especially at night, but overall Stralsund is a quiet and peaceful place.
