Stuttgart is a relatively safe city. Of course at night you have to be careful, especially if you’re at the main station or city center. Also if you’re a woman i would watch out and be wary of your surroundings. Men do look and give stupid comments. Especially Friday and Saturday night when everybody goes out and the women look pretty. I personally never have been assaulted, neither have my friends, but you never know. I would say though that Stuttgart is safer compared to Frankfurt or Berlin.
Posted: June 14, 2025I don't have much information, but there have been cases where people have been robbed pr attacked in the last time (but men, no women) I would recommend to walk in groups of at least 2 in the night, in the city centre is a bit safer as police is nearby, but about the rest of the town I can say anything. I have often found people's handbags with documents and etc near or in trash. My mum's purse has also been stolen so that she didn't even notice, but I personally haven't experienced anything like this.
Posted: May 29, 2025Depending which zones you’re in it can be pretty safe. The downtown are on the weekend after dark can be filled with some drunk people tho but as long as you stick to more crowded places you should be fine. The main station tho where the subways can be taken from should be avoided as much as possible. Stuttgart east, zuffenhausen and hallschlag are known for having gangs and drug dealers.

Sadly there's many dark corners and alleys, but as long as you stay on the mains streets you should be fine, even after hours. Never had any problems in all the years I've been living here but I've certainly heard about small things from Acquaintances, just stay safe as you usually would, never be careless, stay vigilant no matter where you are.
Posted: May 2, 2025As usual, the centre is full of weird dudes, but I think that's a worldwide phenomenon. In some less inhabited parts of the city it's safe. But in general it's ok, nothing alarming, but I would suggest being accompanied by a female or friend, just for the extra reassurance.

Stuttgart is a city where you can as a women safely take the train and go wherever you want without worrying about others bothering you. But as every other city, if something happens, there‘s always someone around that would help.

Germany
Stayed near the train station and felt safe walking around in the night (10pm or so). Main shopping street is lively even in the evening. Nice Central Park to sit and soak in the view. Try the local dishes like dumplings in soup and roast with potato dumplings.
Posted: April 8, 2024Stuttgart is a very safe city for solo women travelers and is really easy to get around. Extremely diverse and plenty of places to explore (food, drinks, history). Definitely check out Stuttgart if you are in Germany.
