I feel like its quite safe here. At night the more central places are a bit scary cuz thats when weird creepy people (mostly men) come out. I never experienced harrassment or violence in Düsseldorf.
Posted: September 5, 2024Of course it depends where you are in Düsseldorf. Near the main Station for example I don’t feel very safe, especially After dark. After dark I also do not feel safe in the Old Town. But I feel safe in Bilk, Unterbilk, Flingern etc. But of course it is still a big City!

Düsseldorf is a very safe and beautiful city. There are many shops and the river Rhine is very beautiful. You can go on a sightseeing bus, on markets in the city and shopping. There are many restaurants.
Posted: August 21, 2024Overall, it‘s a safe city! There‘s a lot to do and to explore! Just like in every big city, there are places/ neighborhoods that are nicer and livelier and those you should avoid at night, especially when being alone.
Posted: July 18, 2024It feels very safe to me, i have never had any incidents. There can bei robberies but these happen normally in large Houses and Not in Flats or apartments. Pickpocketing ist Not super common but in Case of festivals or large crowds its better to be precautious.

you can walk at night, of course there are a lot of homeless people near Vokazal and you have to be careful, but in other places everything is quite safe there are beautiful castles and parks and many nice restaurants
Posted: July 2, 2024The safety depends on where you are. In public places the probability for sexual assault or physical attacks is low, but these are good conditions for pickpockets. Conversely, the probability of robbery or sexual abuse in remote, quiet places is higher than that of pickpockets.
Posted: June 11, 2024Generally it is save. But keep your stuff close to your body like in every big European city. Public transportation is generally save also at evenings, except if there are big football games with full of hooligans.
Posted: May 30, 2024Düsseldorf is a very safe city, there's hardly bad areas and the ones that would be called bad don't compare at all to other cities. There are break ins happening from time to time. I don't hear of sex crimes or kidnapping or physical crimes almost ever. I'm sure they happen, but it's not frequent and I walk around at any time of night.

Germany
Düsseldorf is literally the prettiest city in Germany I’ve visited so far!’ The buildings are huge and pretty, you’ve got a mix of old architecture that reminds me of Paris and you’ve got modern buildings too! The park is super pretty, it’s very safe, the promenade around Rhein is just stunning! It’s super lively and they’ve got lots of cafes and bars next to the Rhein blasting music and people are just having fun ✨

Luisa
I live in Düsseldorf, Western Germany, currently in my mom's spare room because I'm hoping to be traveling around for the next year. I love meeting new people, it's my favourite part about going to new places or back to places I've been before. I enjoy hiking and backpacking but prefer not doing it alone :) I'm a terrible cook but I can do Indian dal and some Chinese food and I bake decent breads. I do martial arts and work as a photographer and on film.
