While berlin has definitely some rough spots, this is the city I felt the most safe (especially at night) as a single woman. I’ve returned back home countless times at very odd hours and while I’m being vigilant and attentive, I’ve never encountered a bad situation.
Posted: April 1, 2025Generelly it's safe I would say! I have heard of things as catcalling, weird looks and weird encounters but very very little of physical harassment. Don't interact with the people, stay calm and then usually everything is fine
Posted: March 31, 2025Compared to other major cities, Berlin is quite safe. Of course, some areas are safer than others, and I would avoid Alexanderplatz and Hermannplatz at night as it is a hotspot for drug addicts and homeless people. However, many areas are very lively all-throughout and public transport is usually very well lit. It is very easy to get Ubers around Berlin as well.

Depends on the time you're in Berlin. During Daytime I'd say it's pretty same. At night time I would avoid high crime areas. Overall I feel mostly safe in Berlin. I'm usally in Berlin during the day or the evening.
Posted: March 16, 2025Berlin is save but always wath your drinks, dont be alone in the dark, leave situations that feel uncomfortable as fast as possible and trust people but stay independet to leave any Situation if you feel the need for it

I come from Split(Croatia), where walking alone at night is still considered safe but I'm still always alert. That's how I felt in Berlin since anyone can do anything to you at any time of the day so we as women unfortunately always gotta be alert. No one ever tried anything with me though, if you notice any weirdo just look at your phone and ignore, its good to have earphones

Overall it's pretty safe, just using public transport at night especially on the outskirts of town isn't comfortable as a woman traveling alone as well as walking at night, but it highly depends on the Kiez (quarter). Spandau where I live is pretty empty around night time so that can be scary/intimidating walking home alone.
Posted: March 13, 2025Berlin feels generally safe, but like any big city you need to keep your eyes an ears open when walking around at night. I never experienced any harassment or dangerous situations and don’t know of any and if then no recent incidents.
Posted: March 13, 2025Berlin in general is fairly safe. Howerever the safety level depends a lot on the neighborhood your in. Mitte for example feels very safe to me and Neukölln I wouldnt walk alone around at night. The public transport is also different depending on the mode you choose. SBahn is pretty safe, UBahn less so.
Posted: March 13, 2025Berlin is a pretty safe city, you just have to be a bit careful around few neighbourhoods (like in every other city as well). Other than that Berlin is a very openminded place that welcomes people all around the world.

I love Berlin and all its vibe, we were a group of 3 girls and we had no problems at any time regarding insecurity Maybe at night I wouldn't go back alone, we went to KitKat and the atmosphere was great and totally liberal and safe. I will repeat the trip to Berlin in the summer because I fell in love with this city.

My friend and I did a 5 day trip to Berlin to see Sabrina Carpenter and here’s how our experience of the city was! What we did: Activities: Berlin Zoo, Dungeon Sights: Bradenburg Gate, Reichstag Building, Holocaust Memorial, Checkpoint Charlie, Berlin Dom, Museum Island, Berlin Wall, East Side Gallery, RAW-Gelände ⭐️ Recommendations: + We really liked all the places I just listed! + Museum Island was so pretty, I could have soent all day just walking around the area and all the gorgeous buildings! A picnic in sunset would be beautiful there + The Zoo was super nice, especially to my friend who had never bene to one! - RAW-Gelände seemed cooler on TikTok, but might be that we just visited at a bad time! 🛏️ Accommodation: We stayed at the a&o Hostel Mitte, which was rather good for the price we paid! The location was quite nice, between city centre and East Side Gallery, just a 10min walk away from Ostbahnhof station. The hostel was huge and had a lot of school kids so was a bit noisy at times and not perhaps on the cleanest side - but not gonna complain for the 13€/night we paid! 🚗 Getting around: During the 5 days that we stayed, there was a public transport strike for 2 days so we had to take Ubers more than we would have wanted to! The oublic transportation seemed really good otherwise, and getting tickets from the BVG app was easy. We took the day ticket (24 Stunden) twice, and it was 12,30€ so jot too bad at all! Ubers were roughly 10-12€ for the short rides we took. Also used the scooters at some point, big recommendation for them too! 💸 Budget: In total I spent around 300€ so roughly 60€/day, including accommodation, transportation, food, sights and shopping. Accommodation: 13€/night in a hostel Public transport: roughly 2-20€ day Food: 15-35€/day Activities: 40€ total (excluding the concert lol) 🚨Safety: We both felt quite safe even walking at night. Our hostel was located near KitKat and Tresot which was supposed to be sketchier area (at least according to the hostel reviews lol) but we didn’t feel unsafe. Overall tips: • Carry some cash with you as some stores and restaurants might mot accept card payments! • If you are planning on going to museums or doing activities etc, book in advance! You might save money, and some places are booked out fast! We for example weren’t able to go in the Reichstag Building without booking days in advance. • Take pics in the Photoautomats! The city has photobooths everywhere, definitely get some photos as a memory. We paid 3-5€ for a set of 4 pics :)
