Depends in which “Kiez” you are staying, there are some Metro stations which I won’t recommend to be, especially in the evening.. Berlin is a nice City and definitely worth a visit but the Klischee about the abused drug use is true, and sometimes you will experience unpleasant situations or at least see them (drug addicts, a lot of homeless people etc) so be aware of that

When I went to Berlin during holidays, I felt safe. I've never been catcalled by anyone and each time I was sitting alone on a bench to rest from walking so much around the city, no one bothered me. However, they are still homeless people and junkies hanging around subway stations but they are minding their own business. I would say that the most important thing to be careful about are the pickpockets. They are Romani women dressed weirdly and handing out papers to sign for a supposed charity organization. Just shoo them away and they will leave you alone.
Posted: July 29, 2025I don’t have any bad experience yet. So I think it is safety place (just here for a month)It is depends on which area do you stay I think . If you wanted to do something then you need to accept what can be

Berlin is generally safe, especially during the day and in busy areas. It’s a diverse and open city with a lot of freedom, which makes it welcoming — but like in any big city, you need to stay aware. Some districts feel safer than others, and late at night (especially in certain parks or train stations), it’s good to be cautious. Pickpocketing can happen in touristy spots, and I personally wouldn’t walk alone in quiet areas after dark. So overall: mostly safe, but trust your instincts and don’t be too relaxed.
Posted: July 25, 2025Berlin is relatively safe, I have been living here for over a decade, and thankfully, I have never experienced any negative incidents. Some crimes do happen, but it is usually in dark and remote locations.
Posted: July 14, 2025The safety of Berlin really depends on the area you are staying in or you are traveling to. Similar to every big city I would advise you to be cautious at night and don't listen to music in public transport if you are going home at night alone. Be a bit aware of who is exiting the train with you.

I solo traveled to Berlin at the end of July and I stayed at EastSeven Hostel. Overall, the city is really great and I loved the vibe. The people are cool and you can see that people are free with the way they dress and how they express themselves. There is a lot of street arts and many activities to do. There is also quite an active night life in this city with its many nightclubs. I didn't try them but I've heard from other travellers that the dress code can be quite strict depending on the nightclub you want to go to. The crazier the outfit, the better. Regarding the safety, I felt very safe. No one bothered me when I was walking or sitting alone somewhere. No catcalling too. Getting a ticket for public transportation is a bit confusing tho. It's better to install an app and when you want to purchase a ticket, you need to specify the starting point.
Posted: July 31, 2025Experienced: June, 2025I love Berlin, it’s my favorite city :) In daytime I felt safe going outside on my own. In nighttime I stayed in crowded places with friends. When you respects the local culture and values people tend to be much more talkative and happy to meet you :) Besides that, I recommend to go to Berlin to live, not to consume (stores etc) and visit hotspots. Berlin has a much bigger story than the trendy places offer. This is actually applicable to almost any city :)
