Is Hanover Safe for Solo Female Travelers?

Hanover generally offers a safe environment for solo female travelers. High security measures are in place throughout the city and the crime rate is relatively low. However, as in any large city, it's wise to stay vigilant, especially when traveling at night or in less crowded areas. Is Hanover worth visiting?

Solo travel

I felt safe, but most of the food was greek or Schnitzel there was almost no other kind of meat, it was really cold even if it was august and there was not much to do, just going to the mall and stuff like that, I did like an asian place that had "red curry rice" in the hannover train station mall, it was the best food I tried there, and after 2 years, I still miss it

I think Hannover is a great city to travel. It’s big and modern, which attracts me a lot. I’ve definitely had a great time there. And also I love the buildings there. It’s not single but different kinds of. I love this Variety. It’s like the people there, from different countries and have different views.

Is Hanover safe for women?

Safety index

Crime index

2.7 /5

Hanover is somewhere in the middle when it comes to safety for women. As everywhere there are safer and not so safe areas. I would recommend using my guest bike over walking, especially if you're planning to be out at night.

Hannover is generally a safe city where I feel comfortable exploring. However, around the main train station (as in most German cities), you’ll often notice groups of homeless individuals and those dealing with substance abuse. While they usually keep to themselves, their interactions can sometimes be loud or might cause some disturbances. There’s a consistent police presence in these areas, which helps maintain a sense of security. By staying aware of your surroundings, especially near the train station, you can confidently enjoy all that Hannover has to offer.

Can host for:

About me

I came here from couchsurfing, which I used for 12 years. So I'm an experienced host as well as a guest who follows your house rules. By now, I mainly travel to Italy, because I am in love with the people, the culture, the food and the landscape. As a host I offer a key, so you can come and go as you please. You can get a guest bike if needed. Also, you'll be invited to my table when I cook, if you want to. Just know that I smoke, and I do so inside my apartment. If you can't stand that, please don't ask me to host you, because I am not going outside of my own home. I do so when I'm a guest in your house though.
