For people that are not used to the city it can be a bit shocking, because areas as the Central Station or the City Center can be ruff. But as a person who grew up there I’ve never experienced something that made me feel unsafe

The safety in Frankfurt really depends where you are. There are very nice neighborhoods where you’re fine. But the district near the central station doesn’t as feel safe. In the end feeling safe is very subjective and you should always walk around with open eyes. But the good thing about cities is that there are a lot of people and you can always seek help or look for a friendly companion.
Posted: March 24, 2025Frankfurt is quite a safe city. In the evening, there is a lot going on in the train station district. I advise against staying in this area at night, otherwise Frankfurt is generally quite safe. Women can stay here alone without any problems.

Frankfurt is a very safe city. Of course, like everywhere in the world you shouldn’t visit parks or dark corners, especially around the main Central station at night alone. The Public Transportation is very good and there is a lot of police everywhere.
Posted: February 14, 2025Frankfurt is a small town, so there happens not a lot, at night the streets are very empty, that’s cool so far but it can be scary when there is a creepy person and no one is there to help in a potential emergency. Also a lot of people have are right-winged so I would say it is more dangerous for queer persons and women of Color.
Posted: February 13, 2025When you’re near the Main Station, it is Not safe at all After Dark. A lot of drug users are in the alleys and in general it is not good to be outside the Main Station. Besides that after dark, when you’re not alone it is really safe and you don’t really have to worry. In general Frankfurt is a okay safe city, it really depends on where in Frankfurt you are. In the inner city and surrounding parts of Frankfurt it is really safe and you can take public transportation without worrying about being attacked.
Posted: February 8, 2025It is a safe big city, at least in almost all parts of it, just near the train station I can't recommend, otherwise I usually feel very safe and did not really experience that many inconveniences yet.
Posted: February 7, 2025Frankfurt is overall a safe city, there are some parts near train station which can be occupied with drug addicts but I as a woman never felt threatened even at very late night. Its always good to be careful about personal belongings in crowded city center.
Posted: January 29, 2025A lot of substance abuse and homelessness around the central station that people perceive as danger, but in reality you will be left alone if you leave others alone. Verbal harassment by mentally unstable people around the central station is not uncommon, but will stay verbal.
Posted: January 26, 2025Frankfurt does have its savety issues and high crime rates for german standards, but if you avoid certain places after 22 o clock youre good. Worst place is central station, wouldnt go there if I have to and If I do only in broad daylight or with somebody else as a companion

Travelled here with a group of 6 (3 girls, 3 boys). The city centre was relatively safe with tourists and local police. We stayed near the train station (Frankfurt Hbf) which wasn’t a very safe atmosphere. A lot of unfriendly faces around and if I wasn’t travelling with my guy friends I would’ve felt very uncomfortable. Lots of drug activity, lots of staring (at us girls) and multiple times we were approached by dodgy men. Wouldn’t walk around the train station area alone. The city was a different experience entirely, felt safe and secure and would walk alone.

I definitely felt safe in this city. I usually travelled from oberursel to east of the city to catch some dance classes at the Honbu in Enkiem then go to the Gym FITSEVENELEVEN in the city I’d often leave the gym at 11PM and get home past 12PM and find that the journey to and from I felt completely safe The food was usually price I found the quality of the take out of fast wood was incredible, fresh and always made with love, eating healthy is important to me so knowing there’s always those options was so helpful I did my trip quite affordable and usually cooked at home and rarely ate out but when I did it was awesome I kept my money for activities like dancing and gym especially in the colder months when it’s snowing and little day light there isn’t much to do outside, I find when you do activities you love it’s easy to make friends and meet people which is what I tried to do. I avoided bars, clubs etc as I’m not a social drinker so I can’t comment on these spaces I particularly enjoyed bad Homburg it’s a neat and tidy area that’s very safe and a bunch of nice cafes and restaurants My favourite spot is Bella gelato italiano this spot had a choke hold on me 😭🤣 i think I’ve had the ricotta, pistachio and pomegranate gelato 10 times since being here. I’d highly recommend 🙏🏽 I’m from Australia so I’m used to warm weather, coastal living and connecting with nature. To be honest it was very difficult to stay in Germany as I’m not a city girl and when it’s to cold to be out in nature I’m not a fan, the weather is warming up and I can definitely see that the place is more beautiful going into spring and people are happier. Overall Germans don’t seem to be very joyful people that’s my only criticism

Hey everyone ✨ My name is Melodi but you can call me Mel. I am originally from Germany, but I moved to England in 2022 for my bachelor's degree. That's why I usually switch between countries. During term time, I live in England, and during the vacation period, I am back home in Germany 😄 I am very extroverted and pretty much down for whatever. I’ve traveled to over 20 countries so far, and I like to think of myself as a traveler, not a tourist. This summer, I am planning to travel to the Balkans (specifically Bosnia, Montenegro, Kosovo, and North Macedonia). I’d love to find a travel buddy, so if anyone’s interested in joining me, just hit me up! Let’s travel the world together and make some good memories ✈️🤩 Also, I live in Frankfurt, Germany. If anyone needs a place to stay, I would love to host you.
