Is France safe for solo female travelers?

France is generally safe for solo female travelers. Like any other place in the world, it's important to exercise some precautions. Major cities like Paris and Lyon, are safe, but like any urban area, can have pockets of higher crime. It's advisable to stay vigilant, especially during late hours and in less crowded areas. Public transportation is reliable and mostly safe, although pickpocketing does happen, so you should keep an eye on your belongings. Overall, the majority of visits are trouble-free, and the locals are helpful to tourists. It's a culturally rich country with plenty to offer a solo female traveler.

Grenoble, Solo travel

Grenoble was very nice. I got the chance to be hosted by a local for the weekend and she showed me around her favourite places. I loved the adventure of discovering a new city and especially through the eyes of someone who lives there and loves her city.

Charleville-Mezieres, Couple travel

I KEEP dreaming myself back to Charleville Mezieres and I would love to return to this city in the summer. The nature surrounding it is beautiful, and is a very good alternative to Reimes or Paris. (And closer if you’re travelling from the east!) It is truly a hidden pearl. The architecture was STUNNING and you truly felt like you had gotten thrown into a cinematic coming-of-age-movie. We didn’t do much more than walking around and taking in the city. The city felt slow, but we also visited in the month of February and it was OH so cold. Charleville-Mezieres is actually France’s coldest city! So, for the hot summer months, I can only imagine how amazing it must be in this city by the river Meuse. We did not eat out, but we took a drink (outside!) in what then felt like a warming spring sun, alongside the locals who had been waiting for the sun’s first warming rays all winter. Now looking back, it can’t have been more than 5° outside in the sun.

Paris, Solo travel

Paris is a lovely city. Not exactly only in the tourist spots! On my first visit, I didn’t realise Paris as it is, I was in a group and they were very worried about tourist spots. And then I didn’t find the then famous “city of love”. Now in my second time, I discovered the city of love, and I’m not talking about being with someone! Yes, in being with you and finding love in the delicacy of architecture, in the decoration of cute bistros or listening to musicians performing in the late afternoon of the Jardin des Tuileries or sitting down to eat a snack at Jardin du Luxembourg Paris brings art both in its museums but also to be contemplated on the street for everyone 🤍

Stay safe on the roads and on public transport. Avoid tourist scams and you’ll be fine. The French that I have met are kind and friendly. The food depends on the shop you visit, really. So choose wisely :)) Lots of activities to do, especially for those who love arts.

Talence

Talence is a town next to Bordeaux. I have never had any problems, especially since I live in a residential neighborhood. There are several means of transportation: bus, tram, bike, etc. You can even order an Uber to get home faster. The neighborhood is calm.

Marseille

Lots of guys ask for your Snapchat, lol. I was always hesitant to walk around Noailles at night. One day I was biking around looking for a rooftop to watch the sunset with some music, put the GPS on without knowing where I was going and suddenly boom, a whole area full of heroin junkies. Still, most parts of Marseille felt lively and friendly, and I never had any real trouble.
