Is France safe for solo female travelers?

France is generally safe for solo female travelers. Like any other place in the world, it's important to exercise some precautions. Major cities like Paris and Lyon, are safe, but like any urban area, can have pockets of higher crime. It's advisable to stay vigilant, especially during late hours and in less crowded areas. Public transportation is reliable and mostly safe, although pickpocketing does happen, so you should keep an eye on your belongings. Overall, the majority of visits are trouble-free, and the locals are helpful to tourists. It's a culturally rich country with plenty to offer a solo female traveler.

Very nice, try to walk a lot around the principal Island and you can also see the small cities in Alsace ! At Christmas it is so beautiful and you can escape the mass of people. In summer you can also go to the mountains, the Vosges ! Or in Germany, with the D tram to Kehl

France, Solo travel

I spent six months living in France, and it completely won me over. I fell in love with the culture, the people, and of course, the food — the gastronomy alone is a reason to stay longer than planned. French people have a reputation for being distant, but honestly, they’re much warmer and more helpful in person than their stereotype suggests. Once you start talking to them, you realize how kind, curious, and welcoming they can be. That said, everything becomes much easier if you speak at least a bit of French. Even a simple “bonjour” or “merci” opens doors and makes daily life smoother. Overall, France was an unforgettable place to live, and it definitely left me wanting to return.

Paris

Paris is safe. You need to mind pickpockets and drunk people in the public space, like any other major cities I would say I never had any problems living there. I always found it safe and never had problems going out late late

Paris

Paris is generally safe, especially in central and residential areas. I live here, walk around every day, and feel comfortable using public transport, even in the evening. Like any major city, some busy spots require a bit more attention (pickpockets in tourist areas, crowded metros), but nothing unusual if you’re used to big cities. I know the safer districts, the calm streets, and how to move around without issues. I keep my things secure, stay aware of my surroundings, and I’ve never had a serious problem. Paris can be very easy and enjoyable when you know how to navigate it.

Lille

As a woman I don't feel very safe in Lille at night. Public transport isn't really great and unfortunately I'd rather take a cab than the metro. It regularly happens that a man stops me or follows me, even in broad daylight, and not many people care..

It is not dangerous but it is better not to hang around alone at night. The lights go off at midnight every night, and it’s rare to see people in the streets in the evening. Except at night, I have never felt in danger.
