I spend 7 weeks in Montpellier for a language course and it was so much fun! The city is beautiful and in my experience pretty safe (except for cat calling and some pickpockets). There are great daytrips possible to Marseille or Sête, which also are very pretty and popular. Or you can visit the Museums, beach or other attractions in Montpellier itself. As an 18 year old I partied a lot in the Clubs Panama (esp. the Latina floor/2nd floor) and Le Club. It’s definitely not cheap, but when has France ever been that…

La Rochelle is great because it blends intellect, creativity, and authenticity in a way few mid-sized cities manage. Nature is never far away, with trails, rivers, and forests minutes from downtown. The city is social and fun without being overwhelming, welcoming, evolving, and confident in exactly what it is.

Only issues I’ve encountered are with aggressive scammers and unlicensed vendors that get hostile when they hear “No.” Unfortunately, all of these incidents were with my child present. Safe otherwise.

I love Paris, a lot of rats sadly lol but overall I loved the attractions, the museums, the parks, the views and the architecture. I had a lot of options for activities. I met cool people. The locals were surprisingly nice. Some areas did feel sketchy but I was fine. The metro is a M A Z E. The more you use it the more you get used to it I feel like. I’ve been to bad, busy and confusing stations but I still didn’t run into any problems.

Paris is a stunning city with incredible corner houses and beautiful, large urban spaces, especially the towers and Notre Dame de Paris, as well as the Opera Garnier. In Paris, I was particularly impressed by delicacies such as foie gras, Parisian pastries and desserts. I would like to come back here again.

Rennes is very safe as I can see since the start of the year. I didn’t had any problems at all ! Sometimes I get scared but there are lights out mostly everywhere, so it is better. People there are kind !
Posted: February 5, 2026Poitiers is a small and very safe city. The city center is the safest place but the whole city is really okay. I think as a woman we could be afraid of going more in the peripheral zones since they don't always have good lights.

Overall, it's safe during the day, except in some more popular neighborhoods, a bit less so at night, but the advantage is that there's a strong nightlife in Paris, so there are lots of people in the streets and stores and restaurants open where you can seek help if needed. Personally, I have never had any safety issues in Paris, but you still need to be cautious.

Rennes is a really sage city at day ! The night, I would not recommend to go to the Kennedy area (drug deals outside) and un the Rue Sainte Anne, known for its bars but also for drunk mens and robbers.
Posted: February 5, 2026Mostly safe but keep an eye open in some streets and transports please take uber not métro if you’re not familiar. 7 district and venissieux are’nt places i recomand. Be safe and Watch yourself during night Time.
