Bordeaux is different from a neighbourhood to another. In some areas there are some pickpockets. At night some people are drunk so they can bother you sometimes. In the day everything is safe more of less

Bordeaux is a medium size city. It's very bourgeois but some places are less gentrified. If you want to go out it is quite safe, except for some very specific places. Overall it's a very safe place for woman, but you may have to be cautious depending on where your go out and what ypu intend to do.
Posted: August 18, 2025Bordeaux is very safe but like in everybody city some neighbourhood are kind of less safe. But the public transport are great and you always have the Uber option available But you can cycle everywhere and it is the way to discover the city

Bordeaux is a big city, so there are places to avoid. However, it's a tourist city with lots of things to do, and I find it pretty safe. The center of Bordeaux is often very busy, and depending on the events (rugby, festivals, etc.), some places can get really dangerous. But overall, I've lived in Bordeaux for a few years and I work evenings, so I've very rarely been harassed in the street.
Posted: August 8, 2025Bordeaux is generally safe for girls. The city center is lively, public transport is reliable, but like everywhere, be careful with pickpockets and avoid certain areas late at night. Stay in the city center and take an Uber home if needed. As long as you stay vigilant, everything will be fine!

I loved Bordeaux, we stayed at Eklo Hotel as a sustainable option and we really had a good time there. Also the breakfast was amazing! It is located next to the botanic park and Darwin Ecosystem, an alternative area in the city. We got there in public transport and the station is a bit far from the most interesting areas, so if you have a lot of things, I recommend taking a taxi from there. We were there for 5 days, so we took advantage of the Bordeaux City Card 72h that included most of the museums and access to public transport, including a little boat over the river, very useful to visit "La Cité du Vin" and "Basin des lumières". As we had some more time, we took a train to Libourne, a cozy smaller town where we enjoyed good food at a Medieval building "Le Zinc". In Bdx we had great food options, but the ones we recommend the most were the restaurant In Darwin Ecosystem, "Møna Bordeaux", "Umami ramen" and "Baud et Millet".
