Bordeaux is a very beautiful city where I feel safe. Despite this, it is a large city, so some neighborhoods are less pleasant at certain hours. But I highly recommend this great city.

Nice city, Feel safe, Transport (tramway, bus) are cleaned and very easy to take Not fare from the airport , by bus it can be 15min People are respectful Uber/Bolt are available at any time, not really expensive depends on location and destination, hours
Posted: January 25, 2025The city is safe as long as you are always with someone late at night in the dark. Other than that I’ve never experienced any problems over there. Transports are pretty safe. There are some places to avoid but if you’re careful it’s ok.
Posted: January 18, 2025Pretty safe, you need to be careful but not as much as in Paris, for example. 5% of people can be a little bit weird in their attitude, but they won’t touch you or anything. People who are uncomfortable in large crowds should avoid the main street, Sainte Catherine, between 10 and 19 o’clock.
Posted: January 17, 2025Bordeaux is a safe place in my opinion in a lot of different places, the population is kinda open-minded. Of course there are still some places that are not recommended to go alone the evening such as "la victoire".

Bordeaux is pretty safe. It is full of life, joyful and with an important student community ! There are many activities available to all. There also various areas with lights at night which is great to feel safer.

Bordeaux is pretty safe. The center (left side of the river) is full of narrow streets but is usually on even if you alone. Public transport is always a good way to go back home especially at night ! Just don’t go to suburbs at night and apply the usual common sense rules

I myself live in the country where I love walking alone at night in the woods but I spend a lot of time in Bordeaux and I always feel pretty safe. The city is very illuminated and I've never had to endure any aggressive acts.
Posted: December 27, 2024It's a nice place to live. I never had any problem here but I don't go out very often and not on the evening. Other people tend to say it's safe excepted some places like Victoire at night but otherwise it's safe. And I'm not scared to go walk outside and run even if it's dark outside when it's not late.

Bordeaux is quite safe in my experience as long as you stay away from certain areas I’ve lived here for 7 years and never experienced any unsafe event but heard about some I feel very safe here but have never been too reckless

Bordeaux is safe during the daytime, but you have to be careful at night, especially in the old town. I was followed by four men to the station after sunset, which was just a short walk to the station.

Gorgeous city, like Paris but less stressful. Much more laid back city. Highly recommend where we stayed: Maison la Course, small boutique hotel with daily breakfast included (served on porcelain, crystal & silver), massages in house, lovely all female staff at the time we were there. To see: Monuments & Neighborhoods to See: Palais Gallien: Ruined 3rd century amphitheater from Roman city Burdigala Place de la Victoire: walk up Rue Sainte-Catherine, (detour east to le Musée d'Aquitaine, la Grosse Cloche - 15th century, bell 1775), (detour west to Cathédrale Saint-André, Place Gambetta & Porte Dijeaux), all the way north to le Grand Theatre (detour west to Notre Dame de Bordeaux, 11th century) Old Bordeaux: (15th century buildings) Porte Cailhau, Place de la Bourse, Basilica & Spire Saint-Michel (built 14-16th centuries), Place Saint-Pierre, Place du Palais, Pont de Pierre Chartrons: Rue Notre Dame (upscale street with antique shops, pastries, cafés), Église Saint-Louis des Chartrons (1880), Boulangerie “Au Pétrin Moissagais” (1785), Musée du Vin et du Négoce Jardin Public/ Quinconces: Monument aux Girondins Bacalan: La Cité du Vin
