Caen is the capital of Normandy, in all cities like these some kind of threats are to be expected but not as much as in other cities, if you know where not to go you’re going to be OK. There could be people approaching you but most of the time when you say that you’re not interested they will leave you alone, if they don’t, just walk very quickly to other parts of the city that are a bit safer. Avoid places like the city train center and the docks at night.

I've never had any problems, but it's true that Caen is a city with a lot of different profiles, I may be paranoid but I don't like to walk alone at night at all. On the other hand, I've already heard friends of mine being followed or whatever... Stay safe
