Montpellier is a student friendly city, as it's quite big, there are certainly some unsafety feeling from a woman pov, but it's mostly about being aware some people can be weird and never walking often alone at night as a woman, it's best to be with someone and it won't happen anything.

Montpellier is overall a very safe city and especially my area is full of families and it’s super peaceful. In some other neighborhoods you might get catfished during the summer especially and then your safety depends on your activity as well.

I feel comfortable walking around the city alone and enjoy exploring at my own pace. However, at night, I stay cautious because I know harassment can happen. Still, I feel safe and trust my instincts to move around with confidence.
Posted: March 22, 2025The streets are usually not empty, generally people are kind and eager to help. There are a lot of women in the streets. Comparing Montpellier to Marseille, Montpellier feels much safer. Didn't have much bad experience. Only one time in 4 months a stranger was being a bit clingy but he left in 5 mins.

The city is overall very safe, especially in the historic center of Montpellier. There are some homeless people but they aren’t dangerous. I had a few harassment experiences but nothing serious, and I have no problem to walk alone after the club (for example). Stay safe ladies, but be reassured in Montpellier and have fun ! :)

Montpellier is a lovely city of the south of France, very sunny and the people are usually kind and easy to talk to. By day there is nothing to worry about as a woman travelling by herself, by night as a big city there are areas safer than others so it’ll be better to choose the rights areas to walk alone by night not to feel insecure and meet bad people but usually the public transports are pretty safe :)
Posted: January 27, 2025Montpellier is safe if you know where you’re going and don’t argue with people who talk to you late, in the dark. During 5 years here, I was disturbe twice by people who were drunk. It’s twice too much but compared to other cities it’s okay.
Posted: January 25, 2025Montpellier is a beautiful city with a lot of great places to explore but after dark it can be a bit dangerous for ladies to walk around in the city because you’ll meet a lot of drunk people ( man for the most of them) and they can be a bit annoying (talking to you, touching you…)
Posted: January 23, 2025The different levels of safety depends on the location, the different areas ! The center of the city is pretty safe, public transports are mostly nice ! It's a very young and partying city center, a lot of opportunities to have fun and visit a lot of nice things exist but of course some areas are less safe outside the center and if you go there you might want to be with someone else !

it's a cool town but there's some place you have to avoid. I'm not afraid when I walk out alone but it's always risky (like everywhere) to walk alone at night. some of my friends got assaulted in the street so be careful but it doesn't happen every time (Fortunately)
Posted: January 20, 2025Montpellier is one of my favourite cities in France :) Travelling solo there was a lot of fun. I really appreciated that the city is close to the sea & that the people are really relaxed & open-minded.

I'm a sports journalist, travelling quiet a bit around the World and Always keen to meet new cool girls! Let's go for a walk, for a meal and just for a drink and if you like music I'm always down to attend a concert !

Alright, so here’s the deal—I’m basically a walking mix of good vibes, questionable jokes, and random bursts of motivation. I try to be a decent human, keep my plants alive (sometimes successfully), and figure out life one snack break at a time. I like laughing way too much, overthinking small things like which emoji to use, and pretending to be organized while actually thriving in controlled chaos. I’m the friend who hypes you up, brings snacks, and sends you memes at 2 a.m. because, you know, love language. Overall, I’m just out here trying to be kind, do cool stuff, and not take life too seriously (unless it’s about food—then I’m 100% serious).
