Safety is not what Nantes gives as I heard but I never felt in danger. In the other hand Nate’s is very popular for the art and cultural event. Nantes had also an airport that makes your travel life easier.
Posted: October 18, 2024I love nantes! It's great for 2-3 days visit. The natural history museum is a must do, as well as walking the "green line" which takes you all around the city. A lot of the activities are pretty cheap or free (museums or walking around). You can visit Trentemoult within Nantes, beautiful buildings and quiet atmosphere. Nantes is not the cheapest, but you can definitely find good deals. I can't speak on accomodation as I was staying with a friend.

This city is quite safe except the area around the tram stop "Commerce" in the city center where there is a certain amount of dealers and some drunk guys on Thursday night (some kind of french university life tradition)

Be careful walking alone at night, people can be aggressive or very oppressive. Some areas of the city are to avoid at all case during the night especially if you're alone. You can always count on women's solidarity if you ever need help 🫶🏻
Posted: February 28, 2026Globally, during the day Nantes is mostly safe. A few areas should be avoided but cleary there is nothing for tourist there so there is few chances that you end up there. The rest of the city is really nice, even for a lonely women. But during the night, Nantes become really no safe if you are alone as a women, and that is everywhere ! In the center or not... so be aware of the dark and avoid being alone in the night
