It’s a beautiful city with many families. Ofc there are some drug areas, but the police is very active in these areas. The only think you should be worried about is your bike being stolen. Never happend to me though.

Freiburg is a really lovely city. Like any touristic city you should be attentive at touristic places, be mindful around the Stühlinger Park behind the train station and don’t walk alone at night. I heard about a few people being kidnapped or raped at night walking at the Dreisam. Freiburg has a great concept called “FrauenTaxi” where every woman can call a cap for 7€ in the night no matter where to go to. That helps to stay safe.
Posted: April 7, 2025Freiburg im Breisgau is a very safe city in my experience. Especially in international comparison, I feel I can walk around the city safely, and even at night I am only slightly worried, although personally I never had a negative experience there. The most common crime in Freiburg is probably bike theft, so make sure to properly lock your bike in case you are using one.
Posted: March 16, 2025Hi, I come from Freiburg and for me it’s a really nice city! You should not be in the Stühlinger Park or at the Dreisam in the night time, but the rest of the city is really save! :) I hope you spend a nice time in this city!
Posted: March 12, 2025Freiburg is a rather safe locación. Although there robs of bikes for example, it is more safe than other cites. In general Freiburg is a fairly small City with a lot of life in it. There are a lot of cultural activities to do. The arcitecture is pretty. But there are also a lot of places to calma down, such as green Parks and lakes. Not far from the City ther is the black forest, which offers even more stunning nature.

I think Freiburg is really safe, but it depends in which City Part you are, there are a few parks with many Junkies, so I wouldnt walk alone at night there but the City Center and Train Station are already Safe.

We are a quite small city with a lot of students, thats why I feel very safe 99% of the time!! You just have to take a good look on your bike, cause they get stolen in Freiburg very often ;) For everything else, there is nothing to worry about.
Posted: February 11, 2025Freiburg is a relativly safe city, that get quite quiet at night. The local are very gründlich and respectful. there night be a few areas youd like to avoid but overall you can walk freely, even when it’s dark outside

I think Freiburg is a pretty safe city to go to. Nevertheless, it is still common to receive sexual harassment and catcalling. I don’t think one is in grave danger all the time of being robbed, but still I would be careful about my surroundings, especially at night.
Posted: February 4, 2025I felt very welcomed by the sister that hosted me, that became a friend. I loved the forest all around and that is very accessible with public transportation. I really had great time. The market around the cathedral is lovely and you can find local interesting products. There is awareness about gluten free needs in most places I have had food and I found people lovely, relaxed and friendly.
