I’m a little extra nervous lately only because a homeless person jumped at me screaming recently 😂 but that was very shocking because things like that never happen here! It’s the safest place I’ve ever lived. That being said, I don’t really participate in night life which I know would paint a different picture.
Posted: September 27, 2024I'm walking alone through Freiburg on a regular basis and I never felt like I'm in danger or that anyone wants to hurt me. Even when I'm walking there in the night I don't feel uncomfortable but for sure its always good to pay attention to your suroundings, just in case:))
Posted: July 14, 2024Freiburg is a very safe city. Generally, you don’t need to be concerned about your safety by day and even at night in most parts of the city. There are only a few locations I wouldn’t walk alone at night like the Colombi Park, Eschholz Park or Stühlinger Park. Also, I wouldn’t walk alone at night in the parts of the city Weingarten and Haslach, also some parts of Stühlinger and Landwasser can be frightening.
Posted: July 7, 2024Freiburg is a very openminded City. The people in general are super nice and helpful. Language wise can English sometimes be challenging, but you can work your way around it. Like in any city there are certain areas I wouldnt recommend walking around alone, but these arent any central areas so you wont accidentally end up there.

Hello! I’m a U.S. American who has lived in Germany for 3,5 years now, and I’ve done my fair share of couch surfing during the years I backpacked in my early 20s. Looking forward to meeting new people!😊
