Is Freiburg im Breisgau worth visiting?

Solo travel

I felt very welcomed by the sister that hosted me, that became a friend. I loved the forest all around and that is very accessible with public transportation. I really had great time. The market around the cathedral is lovely and you can find local interesting products. There is awareness about gluten free needs in most places I have had food and I found people lovely, relaxed and friendly.

Personally I never experienced any problems with harassment in Freiburg. Even walking home late at night or taking public transport late at night never felt like a problem. As a woman I am maybe a bit more careful but Freiburg always felt like one of the safer cities to me, especially because of the large group of students living there.

Freiburg is a young and safe City. You can easily Walk at nighttime. Therme is only one aria to avoid in the dark: Dreisam. Its a River through Freiburg and many rapes happened there in the nighttime. Public transportation is safe, except of some weird people Talking to you, but they wouldn‘t touch you.
