the city center is pretty cool. it’s my hometown but i wouldn’t choose to live there. but for a small vacation it’s pretty cool. it’s not too big, not to small. you can do many cool things. it’s pretty easy to find a good restaurant

I would say that in the city center there are a quite the couple of homeless men and some quesionable dudes and could be some scums, but overall there are a lot of police cars so they don’t dare to do anything bad. In another areas, except train station is also safe,at the train station you need to be more cautious. Overall the city is pretty quiet and not hustling or bustling,so it’s pretty safe here.
Posted: April 25, 2025I've been living here since a while (1yr and few months). Been travelling in the night too sometimes, alone. Nothing bad thank God, has happened to me till now in the streets or so. Although we should be aware and take good care of ourselves regarless. I believe I can say, Chemnitz is okay safe for the girls.
Posted: December 29, 2024I think the level of safety in Chemnitz really depends on where you are. In the city center, I don’t feel very safe, especially in the evenings or when it’s dark. In some areas, there are often groups of men standing around who catcall or approach you. I would tend to avoid the city center and Sonnenberg, especially at night. However, the further you go towards the outskirts, the quieter and safer it feels, at least in my opinion. I feel much more comfortable and at ease in those areas.
Posted: November 18, 2024Obviously it is a bit scary to be outside in the dark in every city but it's more my anxiety than experience speaking. Nothing bad happend to me here or anyone I know but I'd stay away from parks or places like that at night (in general) just because there is a chance that there are people on drugs.
Posted: October 24, 2024I feel like Chemnitz getting better. But a few years ago I hadn’t such a good feeling. I wouldn’t go out at the dark still. There are many police officers who drive around. And make sure everyone is ok. But still I feel a bit unsafe and I’m happy to leave chemnitz again.
