Solo travel

the city center is pretty cool. it’s my hometown but i wouldn’t choose to live there. but for a small vacation it’s pretty cool. it’s not too big, not to small. you can do many cool things. it’s pretty easy to find a good restaurant

I think the level of safety in Chemnitz really depends on where you are. In the city center, I don’t feel very safe, especially in the evenings or when it’s dark. In some areas, there are often groups of men standing around who catcall or approach you. I would tend to avoid the city center and Sonnenberg, especially at night. However, the further you go towards the outskirts, the quieter and safer it feels, at least in my opinion. I feel much more comfortable and at ease in those areas.

Obviously it is a bit scary to be outside in the dark in every city but it's more my anxiety than experience speaking. Nothing bad happend to me here or anyone I know but I'd stay away from parks or places like that at night (in general) just because there is a chance that there are people on drugs.
