Bremen is an extremly safe city. You can go mostly everywhere without having fear. But for the Train Station youhave to be a bit careful since some people are taking drugs there. The people are usually very friendly and careful so you don’t have to worry.
Posted: February 4, 2025I am originally from Istanbul and coming drom a big city like that I felt so much safer here in Bremen. Of course there are some parts of it which is not very safe. I prefer not going outside very late but it seems not that dangerous. There are some mad people like verywhere in Germany but that’s all. But I feel sometimes not safe at Viertel or Hauptbahnhof when it’s late and very dark outside. And occasionally at Domsheide but that could be just me. I was followef once here in Bremen but I had a male friend with me and it seemed more like a drunken/high behaviour or maybe a little racist too. I am not sure.
Posted: February 3, 2025Every city has places where you feel less safe, but overall I would say Bremen is a very safe place. The public transport is great here, and you can get everywhere without too much waiting. So yes Bremen is very safe.
Posted: January 25, 2025I think it’s really safe unless u are at the main station or in some parts of the city which are really unsafe… You can stay in Bremen as a women but please don’t be at the main station at night. In the city Center it’s really safe.
Posted: January 23, 2025Its not that unsafe but I am a new student here … don’t know much. I have been to some areas after dark and it was fine . I have been advised not to go to the main train station after dark but if it is an emergency try to stay inside Hauptbahnhof
Posted: January 21, 2025Most parts of Bremen are very safe, only the Bahnhofsvorstadt and Viertel in the nighttime can be a bit scary and pickpocketing can happen in bars sometimes. Other than that it is a pleasant city and public transport is safe.
Posted: January 20, 2025Bremen has safe and less safe areas, as any other city. Around central station, Domsheide and Viertel it can be a bit critical after sunset. I would recommend to avoid walking alone through dark empty tiny streets in the dark. Public transport feels mostly safe.

Bremen has a relatively high crime rate, anyhow it's safe in most areas. Maybe don't go to some areas at night. Otherwise things are fairly safe. Use your common sense. On my end I've barely experienced scary situations in my 5 years here. Beware of drug users in the area around the main station.
Posted: December 29, 2024Depending on time and place but if you keep out of specific areas at night then you’ll be and feel safe. As everywhere you just want to keep your eyes open and be attentive to your surroundings. Also the people are usually very friendly and motivated to help you if you need it.

My lovely hometown is changing rapidly. Crime cases seem to get more and more, I don’t even check the news anymore. If you know your way around the city, you can live a happy and peaceful life in Bremen, but I wouldn’t go out at night and I wouldn’t walk around with a bag that doesn’t zip shut :/ This city is so pretty so it’s really a shame
