Over all very safe. there are a lot of university students, so the is some nightlife, but since there live a lot of middle aged people it’s also very very low in crime or the lack of safety. there may be a weird guy in public transport, but they never do anything more than staring. so it kinda can make you feel uncomfortable but nothing ever happens really

I think that you can feel safe as a woman in Augsburg. Any time there is an event they have a lot of police, firemen and ambulances there just in case because drunk people can get rowdy. Other than that there is also police doing there rounds on usual days.

Augsburg is a beautiful city where also a lot of students live. Going Partying is never stressful about worrying that something serious can happen. Of course there are different parts of the city, also one I would not like to go alone in darkness but the rest seems to be always very safe:)
Posted: January 20, 2025I would say it is relatively safe like all the other cities in Germany. The public transport ist great and on weekends there is a nightbus every hour. The security in the Night Clubs is great as well.

I often take a walk outside late at night and I never had any problems. I think, as in every city, it depends on the district you are in. There are some weird people here of course, but in my opinion it‘s very ok and as long you don‘t care about them they don‘t care about you.
Posted: January 10, 2025For me Augsburg is one of the safest cities ever, I can walk around at night without having to fear anything at all. Most people are very friendly - of course there are some men who may look at you leeringly, but nothing else would happen.
Posted: December 27, 2024Augsburg is a very safe city, surpassing Munich in Bavaria. It is home to a diverse range of cultures and people, but there are no major problems or crime. Recently, it was ranked as one of the safest cities in Germany. Overall, it’s a really nice place.
Posted: December 24, 2024There are some special areas where I wouldn't recommend to walk alone at night. But overall it's very safe. Just avoid Oberhausen or Lechhausen and the area around the Main TrainStation. I would totally recommend Univiertel or Haunstetten
Posted: December 24, 2024I have never had a problem in that Town. Sure, you have to watch your surroundings and you have to watch your stuff. I rarely walk alone in the dark, because of personal preference. I always try to stay away from drunk people, you never know what they will do.
Posted: December 5, 2024we felt safe during the day but sometimes when it got dark, there were a lot of wannabe-gangsters around the bus stations. but nothing bad ever happened. we recommend pretty much all the sights we visited, the golden room was very pretty and there's a lot of detail so you could spend hours looking at the murals, the fuggerei was interesting, there's a dig site right beside the dome... we lived in an airbnb outside of the city centre, about an 20min bus ride to the main attractions. the busses drove regularly and we had no issue getting around. the biggest problems we had was with leaving our luggage at the train stations. we could not find a safe to put them in so we had to leave early.
