Katowice and Poland overall is pretty safe. We don’t have a big problem with agression towards women like for example Spain. Generally it is safe in public transport Though I am still worried about walking somewhere at night (depends what area of the city).
Posted: May 3, 2025Katowice and surrounding towns are fairly safe. You can move with no worries even after dark. It's accepting for LGBTQ people. In Katowice as in every big city small accidents can happen u should remember that.

It's totally safe in my opinion, I live in the city center, walk alone there and in the Park Kościuszki in the darkness all the time. Everyone mind their business, no one is bothering, people are shy in general, no one is approaching.
Posted: April 22, 2025In Katowice, it is generally safe, but it can be different on weekends near Mariacka Street. For women traveling alone, it might be challenging to move around there in the evening by themselves. Similarly, I advise avoiding the districts of Załęże and Szopienice.

Katowice is a relatively safe city. It all depends on where you are, but the immediate city center and downtown are very safe. There is no problem walking after dark and public transport is well-developed and quite safe.

Poland
Katowice is a mix of old factories and new buildings. I liked visiting museums and listening to music there. The city center is small and easy to walk around. My time in Katowice was fun and relaxing.
