To be honest Białystok is a pretty safe city. During the day there's mostly absolutely nothing you should be worried about, unpleasant situations happen very rarely then. I have lived there for my whole life and maybe twice I've been cat called by a stranger during a day there. When it comes to the night I would recommend being a bit more cautious as especially during the weekends there's a lot of drunk people near the city center exiting the bars or the clubs... But I haven't ever really worried about anything serious happening to me. Maybe 3 times in life I really had a threatening situation during the night there as someone followed me home once, a guy once tried stopping me on the street by grabbing me and once I was a witness of a serious street fight. Other than that I would not recommend going to dark places during the night and stick to the city center as you never know who's lurking around in the dark areas and you may meet unpleasant people there. Overall I'd say it's a pretty safe city.
Posted: March 23, 2025i think its a safe city. its not very big so not many things can happen. there isnt a lot of "bad" people. most of the parts of the city are pretty quiet and chill. i feel very safe and just good here
Posted: February 5, 2025Bialystok is safe for both residents and visitors. We have low crime rate and friendly, nice people. Just during football matches I’d avoid drunk and loud man on the street who often look for a fight. Overall, Białystok is a safe city, but as with any travel destination, it’s important to remain aware of your surroundings and take standard safety precautions.

I'd say Białystok is a pretty safe city, as long as you're not visibly queer. It's infamous for being homophobic and especially late at night (though not exclusively) your appearance may be commented upon. I've never experienced physical assault, although there are neighbourhoods where cliques of people, often very young and/or under the influence, will try to talk to you. Overall - I'd just try my best to blend into the crowd and be reasonably polite.

As a foreigner in Bilaystok only thing I worry about is the people doesnt know english. Some of them gets aggressive very easily because they dont understand you. But all of the reactions are like speaking loudly(sometimes I get offended) and they look at you without any smile, aggressively directly into your eyes. Thats weird for me.

It's a very safe place where you can start your first solo trip. If you are a backpacker like me, it's a really cheap destination to begin your travel journey. That's what I was doing - it's my first baby step. I felt very safe, didn't spend too much money, the food is delicious, locals are friendly. I really enjoyed it.
