Katowice is a mix of old factories and new buildings. I liked visiting museums and listening to music there. The city center is small and easy to walk around. My time in Katowice was fun and relaxing.

Living here since I was 3 and can recommend! There's police everywhere, not much of dark areas and there's always someone to help you. I would say it just like everywhere - 1/100000 chance to anything to happen

It's generally really safe. I'm there almost every day, and nothing bad ever happened to me nor my friends. You don't have to worry about your safety both at night and day, but there's a lot of homeless people there. They're not dangerous, but they might cross some personal space.

Katowice is a safe city by European standards. As always, normal urban precautions apply: keep your belongings close, avoid poorly lit alleys at night, and don’t engage with aggressive individuals. But overall, you can walk around confidently, even as a solo traveler.
Posted: August 3, 2025It seems to me that the most dangerous place is in the center of Katowice after 10 p.m. Then there are a lot of drugged teenagers and drunk guys. I also don't like the area around the main train station because there are a lot of drunks. During the day it's okay. Despite the bad reputation, I consider the district of Katowice - Szopienice - safe.
Posted: May 28, 2025Katowice and Poland overall is pretty safe. We don’t have a big problem with agression towards women like for example Spain. Generally it is safe in public transport Though I am still worried about walking somewhere at night (depends what area of the city).
