I went to school there and it was pretty safe. There are many kind people and I feel safe. Although please be careful during the weekends, there are some drunk people around, which may ask you for money.

Gliwice is a small city (compared to Warsaw or Cracow) where I was born and raised and always felt safe here. Ofc I’m always cautious cuz you never know but comparing it to other cities I’ve been to I can definitely assure you that you will feel safe here!

It's a busy city, lots of people from all over the world (especially international students). One issue is homelessness and alcoholism therefore you might meet people with those problems in the city but usually they don't bother people. At night as a woman i don't feel very safe but I'm not overly worried either.
Posted: July 30, 2024It's safe in the downtown area. Occasionally in the evening, someone might catcall you on the street due to your appearance. I don't recommend solo travels in the evenings through districts distant from the city center.
