I feel like Marburg is quite safe compared to other cities. There aren’t as many people around and I have never had a bad or weird experience with a stranger here. From a political view Marburg is more left-wing which also goes along with people caring about women’s (or queer people’s) safety. Even at night public transport is very safe.
Posted: January 20, 2025the area around the main train station is a little sketchy at night, but everywhere else I feel really safe. considering it's a student city of course there are drunk people from time to time but they are mostly harmless.

Marburg is definitely very safe compared to other cities in Germany. There are many students and bars, so there’s almost always someone around. I wouldn’t recommend being alone at night anywhere, yet my friends told me that they walk home by themselves all the time or just use the bike. Marburg is very open minded and you can definitely ask groups of strangers if you can walk together
Posted: January 13, 2025Marburg is a beautiful town with great cafes and a beautiful city center called “Oberstadt”. All over the town you can find bikes to rent, which get you from one place to another quite quickly. The public transportation is very good

Marburg is one of the safest places I've been at all. It is a city full of students and young families and they're living their lifes next to each other. U don't have to worry about anything when u come here
Posted: July 18, 2024Lived here for 3 years, went home at night multiple times and never ever had to worry about a thing! Public transport is good and safe, roads are well lit up and people are very nice. Most people here are students. Very safe place and a beautiful city.
Posted: July 14, 2024Marburg is a pretty liberal student city, and as such feels very safe. The only time you might have to take care is around the bars at night, when people get drunk. I often walk around late at night and have never been harassed.
Posted: February 28, 2024A few drunks who like to yell but when ignored are also harmless. The trainstation is okay, i wont be there too long at night time. Over all its a peaceful city filler with people who also care about what is Happening around them and are willing to help out if necessary
