There is no part of the city that feels unsafe during the day; they can all be visited without hesitation. Mannheim is a relatively safe city, although I would rather not visit the red-light district in the Neckarstadt.

Mannheim is a very international and cool city. Yes there are some corners I would stay away from. But walk with confidence and mostly people are super nice here. Don't go to the famous red district.
Posted: January 30, 2025I have been sexually harassed very often in Mannheim, other than that is okay. I did not feel like they would do more, but I have bern catcalled very often. Relatively dirty city btw. Rather go to Heidelberg.
Posted: January 26, 2025Don't worry, Mannheim is a safe city. The community here is friendly, and the local authorities ensure a secure environment. Whether you're walking around during the day or evening, you'll find the city welcoming and well-maintained. Just take the usual precautions as you would in any city, and you'll be perfectly fine.

I moved here a few months ago and had similar „Big City“ Experiences so far. I am a muslim woman and i wear a hijab. Theyre a lot of Arab and Turks in Mannheim but still one get weird looks and recognize people talking when i am around. In Public Transfer it is common to see drunk or homeless people especcially men. You get looks and they move closer. It happened to me a few times. I would not recommend walking alone after 8 pm in Mannheim nor Ludwigshafen wich is very close to Mannheim. In Mannheim there is a „womens Taxi“ which is available i think 6pm-6am only for women to get. Just google it i think thats a great idea and a lot better than public transfer in this timezone. Take care Ladies!
Posted: January 1, 2025it is actually safe, but you should avoid walking at night as a woman. the news about mannheim is bad compared to everyday life in Mannheim. You have to worry less about pickpocketing. And there are women-Taxis you can call in the Night until 5 am

I think it is relatively safe to walk in the streets at night, just after 2:30 ~ 3 am to pay more attention, especially with Turkish or African people living in Germany. Maybe you would like to take a friend with you if you know that you are going to be at this time back home.
Posted: December 28, 2024Mannheim is especially nice if you like student parties and if you like to go clubbing. The town it selfe is not that beautiful. But Mannheim is next to Heidelberg, which has one of the most beautiful old towns in Germany.
Posted: December 24, 2024it feels okay walking in groups at night and generally this is a diverse city which is accepting of different people but please don't do what you won't do in other places (get drunk and walk to the other end of the city). some areas generally feel safer, some don't.

Verry safe. It is a place between big and small City. They are people with diffrent roots. A City with a lot of Music and Art. It is not to far away from Heidelberg. This City is a place to be. Mannheim is a lovely City with a lot of jammy Restaurants with diffrent nationality.
