I have gone out several times until late and never felt unsafe walking around the city. No major incidents have happened either, though I do try to be cautious of my environment. Overall, it is a pretty safe place to travel even late at night.

Görlitz is a very safe city, especially for tourists. The main attractions in the old town are very accessible through clean public transport such as the tram. There usually also are many tourists present in the main traveling season (spring to late summer). The only time, one could feel a bit unsafe is at night on the Berliner Straße (main shopping street) which will most likely be deserted after 9 pm and in the tram during the same time. But al in all, during the day it is safe to say, nothing will happen to anyone.
