Is Dortmund safe for solo female travelers?

Dortmund is generally a safe city for solo female travelers. Most areas are safe to explore during both day and night time. It has a low crime rate and the locals are generally friendly and helpful. Public transportation is reliable and it's easy to navigate, however, like any other urban area, it's always prudent to stay vigilant, especially when traveling alone. Remember to stay in well-lit places, avoid less populated areas at night, and keep your belongings secure at all times.

Dortmund is basically safe. However, I would avoid deserted streets after dark. I would also avoid large groups of men. If you're not obviously carrying expensive items, there's little risk of being robbed. Public transportation is very safe.

Not safe overall, especially in the city. Thats where I live. There are many drunks and agressive football fans around everywhere, its a catastrophe. People arent friendly either and our neighbours were drug dealers, its a pain.

Dortmund is fairly safe, however in the city center and around the main train station you can find sketchy people and the number of homeless people and drug addicts is constantly rising. At night I prefer not walking but take rental scooters, my bike or public transport to get home.

When you are in the centre of Dortmund, you will be safer than in some dark, small streets. I would always take care of myself and my personal things, no matter where in Dortmund i am. If you are with some more people, the possibility for having bad experiences is smaller!

There are some strange people, and one should definitely be a little careful. But I tend to come home in the middle of the night, and have still never felt seriously unsafe. I’d still recommend taking a friend with you if you wanna go out at night. :)
