Is Dortmund Safe for Women? Crime Rate in Dortmund

It depends on the part of the city, but the city is nice for a few day trip and you can easily find friends/ go party here. Like in any bigger city the subways and busses have some weird people in them at like 3am but I never was assaulted etc, they don't do anything.

I have been here for four months but have not faced any harassment as of yet. However I have heard some stories but not from first hand accounts. I have also got some good reviews. So in that way, I feel it isn’t that bad.

I do not think that Dortmund is an especially dangerous city for women. I would say it’s like others, I’m always nervous walking home alone but not because of the city but because I’m a woman. So I’m not sure how to rate this, I would say you should be aware but not too worried.

Nice city - lots of places to go. Not too buy at night. I feel always comfortable to move inside the city. Had no problems at all. People are nice to help and talk but are very direct. Good mix of different cultures

It depends There are some places like the Nordstadt, Hörde or Dorstfeld, were you should be at least at night carefully. When I researcg about how many cases there have been of rape the previously years, this is what comes out; 2021:172, 2022:246, 2023:209

Pretty safe in outer districts. Downtown I‘ve experienced some sexual harassment every few months. Overall Dortmund is pretty safe to travel to due to police presence but also due to harmonious coexistence

Nordstadt can be pretty annoying but the rest is pretty much fine I'd say. I heard people say they get catcalled a lot, for me it's normal, idk if it's overall special in comparison to other cities. Main offenders of sexual harassment are homeless people and old lonely men from my pov.

I have been in Dortmund for 2 months now and nothing ever happened to me i went to clubs and bars even went to an after party with people i just met at the same night and they made me feel safe so my experience so far is good

Dortmund is a pretty safe German city, with a relatively low crime index. It still is a big city though, so there definitely are some areas where pick pockets are around and also some areas where you may not feel super safe when walking around alone in the dark. But in general Dortmund is definitely a place where it’s no problem to do solo traveling as a woman.

Its generally safe but there are places that suck and full of junkies like the Innenstadt Nord. Other places are very safe. There are not robberies but still you have to pay attention to your stuff. Stay safe girliies 🫶🏼
