I think most parts of Bielefeld are safe. There are some spots I would avoide going to at night but overall I feel pretty safe here. I would not be so concearned about a visit in Bielefeld even when you are traveling alone.

I’ve felt safe in Bielefeld, even walking alone late at night from the central station. It’s often empty, but not threatening—maybe my sense of danger comes more from growing up in Colombia. I have also walk in the woods at night, and everything okay.
Posted: July 14, 2025It is not so long that i have lived in Bielefeld, but i didn't see anything . Once i arrived late at night and i didn't fear to use public transport. and i didn't see any strange behaviour till now. but i heard from my friend that is totaly okey.
Posted: May 22, 2025I wouldn’t walk around alone after dark, especially in the city since many drunk and high people are walking around there. But I’ve done it a few times myself and nothing happened, but I still wouldn’t recommend it. At daylight it’s pretty safe. I never had worries about someone come up to me and harass me or anything. Only if you’re at a club and partying. Public transportations are pretty safe too at daytime I would safe

Very safe. It’s a relatively small town if you want to compare it with global standards. Approximately 300 thousand people do live here. It’s a student city. Many people are openminded. Unfortunately though, as everywhere in Germany atm, right conservatives are gaining also more popularity here.
Posted: February 6, 2025During the day it‘s very safe. Since there‘s a university there are always people your age around and most of them have the same way home. The train station quarter is a bit scetchy and intimidating at night, but there‘s security around the clock and police by day. Other than that I feel safe, even at night. When spending the day with my friends and going home at night I‘m of course careful, but nothing ever happend and I feel much safer than in other cities I‘ve been to. I‘ve lived in this area of Germany all my life and can say it‘s pretty safe for girls and women of any age.
