I wouldn’t walk around alone after dark, especially in the city since many drunk and high people are walking around there. But I’ve done it a few times myself and nothing happened, but I still wouldn’t recommend it. At daylight it’s pretty safe. I never had worries about someone come up to me and harass me or anything. Only if you’re at a club and partying. Public transportations are pretty safe too at daytime I would safe

Very safe. It’s a relatively small town if you want to compare it with global standards. Approximately 300 thousand people do live here. It’s a student city. Many people are openminded. Unfortunately though, as everywhere in Germany atm, right conservatives are gaining also more popularity here.
Posted: February 6, 2025During the day it‘s very safe. Since there‘s a university there are always people your age around and most of them have the same way home. The train station quarter is a bit scetchy and intimidating at night, but there‘s security around the clock and police by day. Other than that I feel safe, even at night. When spending the day with my friends and going home at night I‘m of course careful, but nothing ever happend and I feel much safer than in other cities I‘ve been to. I‘ve lived in this area of Germany all my life and can say it‘s pretty safe for girls and women of any age.

Bielefeld is pretty safe for women in general. Just don't go naked on the street or show your undergarments, and you will be just fine! If you want some secret locations for good foods, here are some from a local: "Peter pan" and "Hans im Glück" are yummy restaurants if you like pomefrite and burger but rather on the expensive side. If you are with a bigger group: I recommend the Chinese "Wang" for the All you can eat menu. The best sushi in town gives you: "meiwei" but don't worry if you are not on the sushi side they still have a few other options. For those who want some proper German food, go to "Brauhaus Joh. Albrecht" it might be a bit full in the evenings, but you won't regret it. If you want to save money, try to go out of town like take the tram/bus to Sieker or Stieghorst as exampel to buy daily needs (go shopping in "Marktkauf"/"Kaufland/"Netto"/"Aldi/"dm"). But the difference is usually a few cent to 1-2 € you can also get everything in the city. I recommend the tram with a monthly abo it's cheaper than to buy a single ticket every time. Just go to one of the "mobiel"(that's the name) stores, and they will help you with your needs and speak of course English. Any place is safe just avoid "Kesselbrink" at late night since there might be drunk people who can get aggressive.

The town is pretty save to live in I’m usually not worried to walk around alone at night. I always use public transportations by my self and never had any big issues with it. I still prefer to be around friends at night but I think it’s a usual girls thing.

I feel safe because I can fight 😅 You can use safe the Bus and tram. Be careful if you Are staying at the Night at the central Station. I am careful at the night, i prefer so feel safe and dont go out at the night alone. I dont have bad experience.
Posted: January 2, 2025Actually it's safe, but as a single lady living alone ,I'm a little worried. The people here are okay . You don't book a hotel far away from the city center if U don't have a car, to avoid the driveways.
Posted: January 1, 2025average german city with 300k inhabitants.. Stay safe by mostly being in well lit areas at night. I've never been assaulted or anything else, but there's no place where there's a 100% guarantee for that.
Posted: December 27, 2024Relatively safe. You can walk alone in the dark, without being extremely scared, but in some areas there is a scarier atmosphere than in others. So you should definitely watch out. But in general it is quite a safe city.

Hey, I’m Juliane from Germany. I love to travel solo but I love to meet new people and explore alone. I finished high school last year and I’m going to Uni in the summer to study international buisness. I did an exchange year in school to Texas for a year and after school I backpacked Asia for 2 months by myself. I love animals and I’m a family person.
