I studied in Rennes for a year, I love socialising but since I couldn't speak a lot of French, there was always a language barrier. It's a really friendly and affordable student city. I made friends from Central America, Canada, Germany, Taiwan!

It’s a very quiet and safe city, people are very open and welcoming to strangers, there is a lot of different restaurants to dry different cuisines. You can also meet people from different nationalities and explore the unique architecture of the coty
Posted: October 10, 2025I loved this city! My trip was charming and full of joy. I can say I found a part of myself in Rennes. Plus, the food was really awesome. If you have the chance to visit this city, I highly recommend Bretané; it's a restaurant decorated with beautiful mosaics.

Lived in Rennes for a year. Very safe area as a solo woman. Not as many expats in this area. I would recommend learning some French to make communication easier when needed. Close to tourist areas like Saint Malo or Mont Saint Michel (both 1 hour distance).

I've lived here for a couple of years, I find it quite safe, but as always, you can always find people fighting, shouting, agitated and angry. It's quite safe during the day. At night, I imagine there are places that aren't so safe.
Posted: July 7, 2026Rennes feels overall really safe, but at night remain careful as drug dealing is very common and sometimes things get ugly. Up until around 10pm consider yourself safe, but afterward remain careful of the zones you explore (avoid Gros Chêne, Villejean, Colombier, Le Blosne, these are the least safe areas)
Posted: June 24, 2026Rennes is a wonderful city with many activities to do and a very cultural scene. If you don't go looking for trouble all is dandy and you'll have a great time. At night it may be more dangerous so girlies please be safe, public places are mostly safe but like everywhere the night life can be chaotic, the students mostly drink on Thursdays at Sainte Anne.

It’s nice and chill in Rennes just don’t do anything stupid and you’ll be fine. The people they are great Center ville is amazing definitely recommend visiting. Like most trainstations theirs can get a little dangerous at night but again it’s nothing too crazy.

Hello ! I am a 26 years old who likes to go on a adventure :) For my next and first long solo trip in February, I will spend 3 weeks in California going from San Francisco to San Diego and passing by Los Angeles. I’d love to meet few new people there :) I'm super curious about life, people, the world and always looking for new things to learn and explore. That’s why I love travelling so much ! I love active vacations and I’m always willing to discover a new place through hiking, horse riding or even kayaking ! I also enjoy to spend some time just wandering around a city and discover hidden jem spots :) I'm open-minded, chatty, and love making genuine connections. I'm always up for a meet up ! Yey! 🦦 I'm 22 and currently an environmental engineer student in Rennes, France but I grew up near Lyon. This summer I'm heading to Sofia for an Erasmus internship as part of my studies. I'll maybe be able to host someone if you need to! I'm searching for partners to explore the city and the country on the weekends! Or just to enjoy the sun in a parc. I'm looking forward to exchange some travel tips and stories (: You can also contact me on ig: @aalrnt
