Is Rennes safe for solo female travelers?

Rennes is generally safe for solo female travelers. Like any city, there are certain precautions you should take, but overall it has a low crime rate, respectful locals and easy navigation. Always stay aware of your surroundings, avoid isolated areas at night, and choose well-populated, well-lit areas. As a rule of thumb, exercise the same precautions you would in any large city.

It’s a very quiet and safe city, people are very open and welcoming to strangers, there is a lot of different restaurants to dry different cuisines. You can also meet people from different nationalities and explore the unique architecture of the coty

I loved this city! My trip was charming and full of joy. I can say I found a part of myself in Rennes. Plus, the food was really awesome. If you have the chance to visit this city, I highly recommend Bretané; it's a restaurant decorated with beautiful mosaics.

Lived in Rennes for a year. Very safe area as a solo woman. Not as many expats in this area. I would recommend learning some French to make communication easier when needed. Close to tourist areas like Saint Malo or Mont Saint Michel (both 1 hour distance).

Rennes is a city with lots of students, i’d say the days Rennes is the least safe when there’s protests bc the police can get pretty violent. There are a few neighborhoods where drug related violence has been increasing but I live close to one of the hotspots and cross there a lot and have never felt unsafe

It depends on the day, the time of day, and the places you go; it's like everywhere else, there are places you should avoid and others where you feel good and safe. In any case, avoid walking around alone at night if you are a woman.

DONT WALK ALONE IN THE NIGHT IN ST ANNE, KENNEDY OR REPUBLIQUE !! Otherwise it's mostly fine and I've never been bothered anywhere else but these places above.

It is safe, just avoid some streets at night. The people there are very nice and friendly. Public transport is safe and the police is always nice with us. Don't know what to say more... There is a subway and many bus.
