Is Nantes Safe for Solo Female Travelers?

Nantes is generally quite safe for solo female travelers. The locals are friendly and the city has low crime rates, particularly in relation to violent or serious crime. However, like any large city, there can be occasional petty crimes like pick pocketing, especially in crowded, touristy areas or late at night. It's always important to be street smart - keep your belongings close, be aware of your surroundings, and avoid isolated areas at night.

Safety is not what Nantes gives as I heard but I never felt in danger. In the other hand Nate’s is very popular for the art and cultural event. Nantes had also an airport that makes your travel life easier.

Solo travel

I love nantes! It's great for 2-3 days visit. The natural history museum is a must do, as well as walking the "green line" which takes you all around the city. A lot of the activities are pretty cheap or free (museums or walking around). You can visit Trentemoult within Nantes, beautiful buildings and quiet atmosphere. Nantes is not the cheapest, but you can definitely find good deals. I can't speak on accomodation as I was staying with a friend.

Nantes isn’t a very safe place for a women Gwen you’re out on your own, especially at night. But when you’re with someone or on public transport, you feel a bit safer. In the evening, it’s best to be with someone and stay alert, especially at the hangar a banane. But it’s a Lovely city by day, while plenty to see and discover

Nantes is often described as really unsafe but it is not true. It’s as safe as any big city in France. So of course there will be men who can catcall and stuff but really most of the time it’s really fine and I live in the city center

I've been living in Nantes for almost a year now, I love it, I find this city much safer than what people say. I love going out with my friends; we feel safe and secure when we're together. It's a beautiful city, I think.

About me

Hi Ladies ! 🤗 I'am Rachida. I live in Nantes, France 🇫🇷. I'm 55 years old. Mom of 3 young adults. Since last year, I've been an entrepreneur in the wellness industry. I love to travel, and for the past four years, I've made it a rule to travel at least once a year. Of course, I've been to Seville, Dublin, and Lisbon with friends. But this time, I'm trying a solo trip this year, in China and South of korea, though I'll have contacts there and can share the experience with other people who love to travel and discover new countries, like me. Above all, I want to interact with the locals, learn about their customs, taste their food, learn a few words of their language, meet people to share friendly moments with, and explore together. Why not stay with a local for total immersion? That's what life is all about, freedom! 😉 But more than anything, I want to challenge myself, step outside my comfort zone, and let go of all the fear that comes with traveling solo. Making friends here is also part of the plan. 😍 Looking forward to reading your comments ! 😉 Friendly 🤗
