I loved Bordeaux, we stayed at Eklo Hotel as a sustainable option and we really had a good time there. Also the breakfast was amazing! It is located next to the botanic park and Darwin Ecosystem, an alternative area in the city. We got there in public transport and the station is a bit far from the most interesting areas, so if you have a lot of things, I recommend taking a taxi from there. We were there for 5 days, so we took advantage of the Bordeaux City Card 72h that included most of the museums and access to public transport, including a little boat over the river, very useful to visit "La Cité du Vin" and "Basin des lumières". As we had some more time, we took a train to Libourne, a cozy smaller town where we enjoyed good food at a Medieval building "Le Zinc". In Bdx we had great food options, but the ones we recommend the most were the restaurant In Darwin Ecosystem, "Møna Bordeaux", "Umami ramen" and "Baud et Millet".

Bordeaux is safe during the daytime, but you have to be careful at night, especially in the old town. I was followed by four men to the station after sunset, which was just a short walk to the station.

Gorgeous city, like Paris but less stressful. Much more laid back city. Highly recommend where we stayed: Maison la Course, small boutique hotel with daily breakfast included (served on porcelain, crystal & silver), massages in house, lovely all female staff at the time we were there. To see: Monuments & Neighborhoods to See: Palais Gallien: Ruined 3rd century amphitheater from Roman city Burdigala Place de la Victoire: walk up Rue Sainte-Catherine, (detour east to le Musée d'Aquitaine, la Grosse Cloche - 15th century, bell 1775), (detour west to Cathédrale Saint-André, Place Gambetta & Porte Dijeaux), all the way north to le Grand Theatre (detour west to Notre Dame de Bordeaux, 11th century) Old Bordeaux: (15th century buildings) Porte Cailhau, Place de la Bourse, Basilica & Spire Saint-Michel (built 14-16th centuries), Place Saint-Pierre, Place du Palais, Pont de Pierre Chartrons: Rue Notre Dame (upscale street with antique shops, pastries, cafés), Église Saint-Louis des Chartrons (1880), Boulangerie “Au Pétrin Moissagais” (1785), Musée du Vin et du Négoce Jardin Public/ Quinconces: Monument aux Girondins Bacalan: La Cité du Vin

Im not a nightgirl. But when i'm outside in the dark (after a diner or else) im not in the serenity. A dark street, a boys band next to me its creepy. I this its like this in all the city of the world. Especialy for girls

I've lived in this city for about two years now and it's alright, it mostly depends on the neighborhoods (avoid Victoire, Gare saint Jean at night) but all in all it's rather okay and safe but I'd suggest to pay attention to your surroundings just in case

When you're visiting bordeaux in day light it's safe but imat night some street aren't safe, so it's best to visit at night with other people. I never had a problem but i heard even guy don't walk alone at night
Posted: November 9, 2025Bordeaux is globally safe beside some neighborhood like (train station, les Capucins, Porte de Bourgogne) Most of the time it’s safe City center is very safe But at night, in the previous mentionned location, it’s better to have a bike or car

Bordeaux has gotten a bit less safe in recent years but in comparison to other big cities in Europe it’s still safe and comfortable as a solo female. It’s quite a nice place as everything is walkable there is a bit of catcalling but not more than elsewhere

Salut, Coucou, Hello, as you wish, I love them all ☺️ I'm Mathilde, Mathou for my close ones. I live in Bordeaux, where I work as a psychologist with people who live with disabilities. I love cinema (without "male gaze"), walking, taking photos, watching videos from politic specialists, activists, talking about my job, learning, watching asmr videos, speaking english, music, writing, singing, hearing people talking about their passions, swimming, playing tennis, make people laugh, postcards, magnets and coasters.... And roller coasters. I've got anxiety but I work on it, the few first minutes being inside a group of unknown people are difficult for me but I love it ! I'm vegetarian, which means I only eat grass. I don't have à perfect english but I would love to improve it with you, in Bordeaux (my beloved city) or anywhere else ! I can't wait to travel and meet people from other horizons ☺️ 👋

Originally from California but been living in France for 3 years. I love to travel, photograph new places and people and learn new languages! My favorite thing to see in a new city is a local museum or live music (especially anything with jazz 🕺) I am also obsessed with trees and always crave more time in nature especially the mountains :))
