Really safe city, feel like an Italian town. Some bad blood in some districts around the city (Saline is an example). People are usually friendly but not really open minded if you are not « in the mold » (white heterosexual classic) and can easily make snarky comments. Overall one of the safest city in France in my humble opinion. In peak summer a lot of drug deals around nightclubs etc, that’s just something to think about (dangerous drivers after 1am, and hot tempered men tourist and locals.). It is not a legend people are tensed behind the wheel.
