I live in Balıkesir center and I generally think it is safe. But after 10 o'clock at night, most Places close and become less safe. Staying out at night can be dangerous. Others than that, I think İt's safe

Balıkesir is really small city in Turkey. So it is lower dangerous than other cities like Istanbul or Izmir. It has limited public transportation especially after 10 pm. So you need to walk or call for a taxi. Be careful not to make an eye contact at night because sometimes men understand this situation like a sex signal.
