I wouldn't say it's a dangerous city, but you still need to be careful. The probability of something happening to you is low, but not impossible. Just like the rest of the world. People are helpful. Public transportation is safe. Police are usually always present in crowded places.

Its better than some cities but could be better. In turkey it is not easy to live as a women but it is hard all over the world. You have to take care of yourself during your travels and need to be careful in your accomodation choice.

I think Ankara is mostly a safe city. It may not be the safest but it definitely depends on which town you are in. Some neighbourhoods may be dangerous for women. If you are not alone, that's fine. If you are travelling alone, make sure you carry something in case you need to protect yourself.
Posted: February 12, 2025Ankara is the city of my dreams and I think it's the safest city in the country. That's why I love living here. It's great to stroll around and discover new places here. Moreover, Atatürk is here too, and this makes me feel at home. That's why I love Ankara.
Posted: February 7, 2025I would say some places in Ankara are pretty safe in daylight, but places such as Mamak,Keçiören,Sincan might not be that safe considering my experiences. Nothing particular has happened to me but I can say I dont feel super safe in these districts. Moreover, when it gets dark I dont ever feel safe I m guessing any women feel this way :(
Posted: February 6, 2025Depends mostly on the district you are staying. As long as you are not in a bad district, you will have no problem. Places to avoid: * Çinçin(gultepe district), Mamak, not very safe, sociocultural level is very low *ulus (at nights, there will be a drunk crowd for pavyons(different kind of night club)) *kaleiçi (only at nights, in day time it is safe , you can see the ankara castle)
Posted: February 6, 2025Honestly it depends on which part of Ankara you're visiting and what time it is. I would say Çankaya is the safest place overall but it also varies in its own. I wouldn't recommend going to Ulus or Sıhhiye past 6pm.
Posted: February 5, 2025From my perspective, Ankara feels generally safe, especially in central areas with a strong police presence. Walking around during the day feels comfortable, and public transportation is well-monitored. Like any big city, there are areas that feel less secure at night, so I’d avoid isolated streets and stay aware of my surroundings. While past incidents remind me to stay cautious, daily life in Ankara feels stable, and most people go about their routines without concern.
Posted: February 5, 2025Maybe for somebody when they hear Turkey they start imagining some danger but honestly this place feels very safe. Also as a girl coming here I've been told to be careful. After a few days I made my own opinion and from heart can tell you all people here are very generous and peaceful. 💗
Posted: February 4, 2025I feel safe as I walk around the city but some places are not safe. At late night I wouldn't go out but time to time I did and nothing happened. As long as you are careful about your safety nothing happens . Be awere but no need to be alarmed .

Ankara is a beautiful city but i think its a little bit boring. Anıtkabir was a must seen place i think my experience was really emotional. Tunalı was a good place. I tried cocktails at pint and they were delicious
Posted: August 26, 2024Experienced: July, 2024The city was amazing and beautiful and the people were friendly with tourists. I reserved a really cheap hotel because I had little budget, but despite the prices it was really great and I also met a new friend, that by my solo trip, I think that was amazing;)

This is Beyza ✨ I'm a doctor, working in a small city in Turkiye. I want to travel as much as possible to learn new languages and cultures. I would like to visit festivals, events and some interesting manifestations which can improve my knowledge about the country I am visiting. I play guitar, ukulele a bit of piano and like to listen to other people play something. Also I am interested in photography and every type of art. I like to describe myself as a very open-minded person, always willing to learn, help, teach, share and participate in adventure. I like riding bike, hiking and running. My favorite food... I like tasting new and traditional things (except too spicy). In my spare time I like to sing, read, go to theatre and cinema. I like to spend time in nature and I am not that much into big cities, I would like to visit hidden treasures of every country. My favorite season is spring because I like warm weather and spring flowers. People say that I am very energetic and usually they remember me by my smile. I do laugh a lot 😄 I would like to share my experiences and my place with good couchsufers who will come and visit Ankara.
