The central areas of Izmir are safe. Locations should be researched well before staying. Places like Bornkva, Karşıyaka, Alsancak are both close in terms of transportation and safer. Some places can be unsafe at night. I recommend staying in a more central location. Femicide is high in our country. Izmir is a little safer than other cities.

Turkey is a safe country, especially if you stay aware of your surroundings like in any place. I’ve always felt welcomed and comfortable here. People are warm, helpful, and very respectful. Locals are kind, welcoming, and willing to help. Just like anywhere, staying aware is key.
Posted: April 7, 2025Generally safe city in Turkey, But the hours with public transport are generally safer until night 24.00, I don't think after midnight , dark hours in the world is completely safe . There is no need to walk on deserted streets at midnight, prefer central places

In general, except the dangerous suburbs, I can say Izmir is safe. Tourists and different cultures always welcomes. During the day, I think it’s completely safe, you can walk around in peace and explore the city. But after dark, especially after midnight, it’s better to prefer crowded places to stay safe.
Posted: March 24, 2025Actually Izmir is safer than many cities, people are more sensitive and helpful, but the news I hear in the country and around the world scares me. That's why I try to be more careful. But as a woman, I hate feeling unsafe. I return home late at night in Izmir, but I feel uneasy.

In Türkiye, people know İzmir as the country's most enjoyable, safest, and most modern city. Women can comfortably eat, drink, and watch the sunset. Additionally, women can feel relaxed while walking at night. The people of İzmir are very polite; you can ask anyone for help, and they would be happy to assist you.
Posted: March 5, 2025if you stay in the center and do not stay at very late at night, its a safe city. Tourist areas like Alsancak are very crowded on the weekends, but do not go to places like the historical elevator ( tarihi asansör) and kadifakale alone and at night. Stay in the crowd as much as possible. And do not show that you are a tourist.
Posted: March 2, 2025The security level varies depending on the regions. For example, while it's normal for someone to catcall you while walking on the streets of Çankaya and its backstreets, this is much less common on the Bostanlı coastline.
Posted: March 2, 2025Izmir's general public is kind to people they don't know. They adapt to societal rules. It is one of the most reliable cities in Turkey. Traveling on the streets when it gets dark is not a problem; it is very enjoyable and fun because it is a big city. I go for a walk every morning. In the evening, I go to the shops. 🤍

İzmir is safe more than İstanbul and other big cities. People are love each other, respect and kind each other. But sometimes it can be dangerous outside because some people dont know how to behave in public

I went to İzmir with my family last summer and it was amazing. I visited for the first time. They camped at a camping site around two weeks (I joined them for the remaining 4 days). If you come to İzmir you shouldn’t leave without visiting Ephesus Ruins. I would recommend visiting at night because it’s so hot during day and it looks even more breathtaking with the lightnings at night.

Turkey
I was there camping and had to tell you that I left my heart in Izmir when I came back to the İstanbul🥹. The food, sea, and people, and every second I spent there was a magnificent memory for me. I am thinking about going to Izmir this summer again if I have my chance.
