Poitiers is a very quiet town. Below are some details for the night which I think are valid in many cities: I regularly cycle or sometimes walk home at night without fear. Some of my friends wouldn't do it as a precaution. Likewise, they fear returning to underground car parks alone at night. The train station and the surroundings of the nightclubs can, I think, be more places where some altercations can occur as well as in certain areas outside the city center. Please note that in certain streets of the city, the lights are turned off at night for ecological reasons but remain on in the busiest and also the most sensitive areas.

Poitiers is a very safe city with a large student population. I live downtown and have never experienced any situation where I felt unsafe. The vibrant student community creates a lively and welcoming atmosphere. Additionally, the strong presence of local authorities ensures the safety and well-being of both residents and visitors.
