Poitiers is overall a safe city, however since it’s very small, you’re often alone in the streets when you’re out and especially at night. I would not recommend to walk at night alone but apart from that it’s a cute little city with nice architecture !

For me Poitiers is quite a safe city. When alone in the dark at night, of course it's not super chill, and it happens that men follows you. It has happened to me like 6-7 times in almost four years, which i feel like is not 'that' much (even tho it's always too much). In general, i feel safe
Posted: March 18, 2025Poitiers is a pretty safe city, but some places are to avoid, and it's better not to be alone after midnight outside. I often go out and walk to go home with one or two friends (only girls) around 4-5am and we never had any problems. Like a lot of cities, in the center there is sometimes intoxicated men. Avoid social housing areas, as there are rival gangs (Trois Cités, Bel-Air, Couronneries Saint-Eloi and Beaulieu). Outside theses places, it's safe and there isn't safe issue. It's a city with a lot of college students, and there is usually people on streets at night, a lot of bars open so it's easy to get help if you need it

Poitiers is a small town with a good vibe and lot of stuff to do as cultural and festive parties! Different good bars, coffee shops and restaurants, museums, theatre, cinema, … Hope you to enjoy as i do!
Posted: January 30, 2025Poitiers is a small town full of students and very energetic. The center is pretty small and when you walk late in the street you feel safe because the bars and terraces are still full of people. There’s always something to do. There’s plenty of cultural things to visit : museums, theatre, cinema and historical places. There’s also a bit of shopping possibilities and cute little shops and thrifts shops too. Overall i find it very nice for a small town.
