Safety at night:Safe

Hamburg, generally provides a secure atmosphere, particularly in well-populated city areas. A large network of well-maintained, well-lit streets, combined with an efficient public transportation system, contributes to nighttime safety. While incidents of crime are not unheard of, they are relatively uncommon. However, as with any large city, there are some areas you would be advised to avoid at night. Always be aware of your surroundings and use common sense, especially when walking alone.

Public transportation:Safe

Public transportation in Hamburg, is a popular option among residents and visitors alike. It is generally considered to be safe for solo female travelers. Trains and buses are clean, frequent, and operate with strict timetables. Traveling late at night might be a little less comfortable due to fewer passengers and reduced frequency of services. However, isolated incidents can occur, as in any major city, so it's important to maintain situational awareness, especially during off-peak times.

Street harassment:Low

Hamburg is generally a safe city for solo female travelers. While occasional incidents of street harassment could occur, as they could in any large city, they are not very common. Local authorities are responsive to such issues and public safety is well maintained. However, it's still crucial to exercise standard precautions, stay in well-lit, populated areas, and avoid late-night solitary walks especially in unfamiliar areas.

Petty crimes:Low

Hamburg, generally enjoys a low level of petty crimes. However, like any large city, it is advisable to stay alert and take basic security precautions. The most common forms of petty crime in Hamburg include pickpocketing or minor theft, particularly in crowded places like public transportation or touristic points. It's always a good practice to keep your belongings secure and not leave your personal items unattended.

Tap water:Very safe

In Hamburg, the tap water is incredibly high quality, meeting or exceeding all health and safety standards. It's sourced from protected natural springs and goes through rigorous treatment and testing. So, you can comfortably drink tap water without concerns.

Hamburg is generally safe. There are a couple of dodgy spots around the main train station and you will recognise them and instantly turn around. Safe to walk around the main city area even at night.

Especially in the center and in shops, you should take care of your valuables. Quiet areas should be avoided very late in the evening. There are police, who keep an eye on the situation at events and festivals.

From Gdansk in Poland, I took a flight to Hamburg Airport from there I took the train to the city hall it was easy and accessible however transport prices in Hamburg can be expensive comparing to other cities in Europe. I arrived to the city hall and it was AMAZING ! I loved everything about the city the buildings the landscapes, the river there , how good looking the people were, the food as well especially that they surve turkish food. About Me

I like to walk through cities and love to discover them. I'm interested in the architecture and the old and typical of a country... I also like to just enjoy the peace and quiet, sit in a park or by the water and sometimes I want to try things that are full of action, it could be a turbo slide or something completely new and crazy... I am also interested in natural cosmetics and healthy eating, but chocolate is a must every day...

About Me

Hiii, I’m a final year medical student in Brazil, 23 yo, I’m really easy going and I am passionate to solo travel, to learn about other cultures and to meet new people 🫶🏻 My travel journey started in 2022 when I took a gap year in San Diego, California, and was one of the best experiences I had in my life ✈️ After this I came back to Brazil but was always looking foward for the next experience. This time I’m going to stay 3 months in Europe. Arriving end of April/24. I will do an internship in Surgery in Germany in May, and then in June I will do other internship in Greece. I am planning to do some weekend trips while there, and would love to be hosted by someone or to hang out in another city around Europe. Hope I can enjoy the most of it and meet new people 🤩 *Ps.: The city I will stay in Germany in Lubeck (very close to Hamburg) If there is someone from there or Hamburg, lets chat 😜🫶🏻
