What a beautiful city to visit in summertime:) There are some many things to do here: visit Miniatur Wunderland (remember to booked the ticket in advance), the Elb river, Elbphilharmonie, Speicherstadt, the Bunker, Elbtunnel, two Bundesliga teams (St.Pauli and HSV), and so many more:) Small tips: you can take some of the ferries for free, instead of paying for the tourist ships, check online in advance! I recommend to stay more than four days here, including weekends since there are markets...

I loved it for the part I visited! It's a very big city and there is a lot of things to do, there's a lot of different cultures. The port is so nice as well as the old town ! There is a big outdoor ice skating ring it was amazing. Food was good and there's so many restaurants!

I went to visit a friend and it was so funny. We cooked together, went to eat on the beach and went to the amusement park. The weather was kinda rainy but I enjoyed it a lot and I felt safe the time I was there.

I felt safe most of the times but in a certain places like Hauptbahnhof or St. Pauli, I try not to pass those places by walking. I also sometimes didnt feel safe at public transports because of the Hijab i wear. Besides that I think Hamburg is wonderful. Ot has bith the criwded streets like Mönckebergstraße and boat trips from Landungsbrücken. I would %100 recommend you to go to Elbphilarmoni buildng. Its free to enter and you can see all the city from its balcony.

Be careful partying during the night. Near the Reeperbahn there is a lot of crime and it's not safe for solo traveling women getting drunk there alone. During the day the whole city is safe for all of us :)

In general Hamburg is a really safe city, it’s really good connected and even AM time you can drive safely, during the day I don’t have a place I wouldn’t walk alone. During the night I am a bit more self aware especially near the central Bus station, I had walked at night there by myself but it’s not something I encourage to do. Same with Stadtpark, as a woman alone I wouldn’t go there at night. During the day is fine, outside of that enjoy the city, it’s beautiful and it has so much to see...

All in all Hamburg is quite the safe city. There are always regions where people wander around you don’t want to get involved with and at a certain hour at night you shouldn’t be around alone especially in the city center, the old town and as a flinta (female*) person. Hamburg is really intercultural, in the center left, open and queer friendly so let your colors shine ;)
Posted: April 27, 2026In general Hamburg is pretty safe, but like in every big city you have to be aware of your surroundings:) Especially as a solo travelling women. Im often walking around in the evenings night aswell and i sure had some sketchy experiences aswell but most of the times it's safe.

Hey, I'm Terry :) I like to read, travel and watch bl and my fav band is StrayKids. I'm pretty introverted but I'd like to meet new people and cultures. I'm a bit scared to take the bus or train in countries i don't know, cause I don't wanna get lost and people are scary :)
