It’s a good city, but it’s very quiet at night. Only on Saturdays is it lively, and you can see different types of people. It’s not a big city, but it’s nice and the people are friendly. However, it’s not very clean.
Posted: August 26, 2025Experienced: August, 2025Leipzig is a lovely city, with a culture and alternative people. If you visit Leipzig i can recommend the Kulki and the Cossi - two beautiful lakes! Also don’t miss the food hotspots like Karl-Heine or Karl-Liebknecht Street! :)

Good overall, just stayed there some hours honestly. Not so good ice cream but great people. Also beautiful buildings and would definitely recommend visiting the mall on the middle of the city, it has many MANY internationl shop's. Just loved it!

I was in Leipzig to learn German. I didn’t work as hard as I needed to, but I recommend Leipzig. It’s pretty, calm, has awesome food, and has a lovely opera house. I would like to go back to Germany.

I'd say it's pretty safe to travel around Leipzig. In the downtown area, there are always people around, so it's quite safe, also alone. With public transport, it's easy to get around. Going by car is also possible, but traffic can get pretty bad. Other than that, going by bike is also nice and definitely doable.
Posted: May 8, 2026As a queer white woman I‘ve hardly ever felt unsafe. There are a few spots where you should be a bit more aware of your surroundings at night time, but I‘ve never experienced any dangerous situation. Even in the „dodgier“ areas.
Posted: May 4, 2026At day time it’s really safe, but sometimes at night there are sometimes creepy people, but I think it’s like every bigger city. But I never had an experience with stealing and stuff like that in the city.

Leipzig feels generally safe and relaxed, especially during the day. I’d walk around most neighborhoods without stress. At night, it’s still mostly fine, but like any big city, some areas (around the main station or certain streets in the east) feel a bit rougher. Overall vibe: pretty safe, lively, lots going on, peaceful...

I’m Bahar, a 27- year old social pedagogue living in Leipzig/ Germany with my girlfriend Meike, who’s also 27 and working as a medical engineer! :) Oh and not to forget about our two boys (cats) Ludwig und Friedrich! We’re living in an 3- room Apartment in the east of Leipzig not far from the city centre. ✨ You’d have your own private room where up to 2 people can stay! We can provide pillows/ a blanket and towels. We love to travel and therefore we’d love to both host travelers and be your guests! Happy to hear from you!! ✨

Hi! I am born and raised in germany and currently life in Leipzig. I am a bit shy and want to change that, i want to shift my whole energy towards "strangers" and neeeed to get out of my comfort zone. Most of my friends are male and i really want girlies in my life so hit me up if you want to connect. I always prefer beaches/ nature over cities and i try to completely stop drinking.
