It’s a good city, but it’s very quiet at night. Only on Saturdays is it lively, and you can see different types of people. It’s not a big city, but it’s nice and the people are friendly. However, it’s not very clean.

Good overall, just stayed there some hours honestly. Not so good ice cream but great people. Also beautiful buildings and would definitely recommend visiting the mall on the middle of the city, it has many MANY internationl shop's. Just loved it!

I was in Leipzig to learn German. I didn’t work as hard as I needed to, but I recommend Leipzig. It’s pretty, calm, has awesome food, and has a lovely opera house. I would like to go back to Germany.

I have lived in Leipzig for more than 5 years and I have always felt super safe in the city. I had no problem using public transport at night on my own or walking around the city. Certainly, there’s areas one should probably avoid but that’s advisable in every city
Posted: August 25, 2025It's pretty safe. I wouldn't go out completely ignoring the possibility of danger from strangers. And you sadly don't get around the danger or harassment targeted at female presenting people like cat calling but also being followed at night. Like, I know a bunch of women, to whom shit that was scary happened but where they got lucky and were able to get out of the situation before it got physical. That doesn't mean that the psychological damage that caused is to be neglected and "not real". Many years ago there were a bunch of criminal issues in and around the "Eisenbahnstraße". It was in fact one of the most dangerous streets in Germany, but they did a lot to fix the issue and you don't really hear that much from that area anymore and also having been there a bunch, it also doesn't appear that unsafe. To conclude, in comparison to other German cities I do believe it to be relatively safe, where you can go outside at night and move around on your own. However I would still keep my eyes and ears on my surroundings, to be able to react fairly quickly to what's happening around, atleast at night. Tldr: relatively safe, but men do still exist and will be men and therefore sometimes spoil you having a good time (This is obv just one persons opinion and your experience might be very different to mine)

Really safe, experienced minor sexual harassment (cat calling) a few times during my two years living here but never got into something worse. They have a well known problem of neo-nazis and you'll probably see some addicted and homeless people in the city centre, but the latter just try to survive and won't harm anybody.
Posted: August 3, 2025I‘d say quite safe, following standard procedures of safety - not walking alone at unknown locations after dark etc. Otherwise nothing ever really happend to me here and I‘ve lived here for 6 years. I have camera at home and at my door.

in general it‘s a very safe city, the main station is sometimes a little bit uncomfortable after dark because there are sometimes drunk people or people on drugs but i‘ve never had a real negative experience :)
