Is Leipzig Safe for Solo Female Travelers?

It’s a good city, but it’s very quiet at night. Only on Saturdays is it lively, and you can see different types of people. It’s not a big city, but it’s nice and the people are friendly. However, it’s not very clean.

Leipzig is a lovely city, with a culture and alternative people. If you visit Leipzig i can recommend the Kulki and the Cossi - two beautiful lakes! Also don’t miss the food hotspots like Karl-Heine or Karl-Liebknecht Street! :)

Good overall, just stayed there some hours honestly. Not so good ice cream but great people. Also beautiful buildings and would definitely recommend visiting the mall on the middle of the city, it has many MANY internationl shop's. Just loved it!

Group travel

I was in Leipzig to learn German. I didn’t work as hard as I needed to, but I recommend Leipzig. It’s pretty, calm, has awesome food, and has a lovely opera house. I would like to go back to Germany.

Super safe city . I’m commuting via bike and I never felt unsafe( not at night or day). In the city center on the weekends you will have the typically weekend men / mixed groups-who where sometimes drunk.

I have lived in Leipzig for over two years and I have always felt very safe. The people and culture provide an open and caring atmosphere and that is what makes me feel safe most of the time. As a woman, I have been catcalled and felt uncomfortable, especially at night, but I never felt directly threatened in my safety.

Leipzig is generally a safe city, and I’ve always felt comfortable living there. Like in any larger city, I stay aware of my surroundings, especially at night, but I usually feel safe walking around and using public transport. As a woman, I think it’s important to be cautious wherever you are, but overall I’ve had very positive experiences in Leipzig.

Generally pretty safe area. Main station and surrounding areas are always pretty sketchy. Eisenbahnstraße is also not necessarily the place to be. Other than that as long as you’re in the center of the city it should be good.

Based on my experience, Leipzig is quite safe, but I got catcalled a few times and there are some shady people at night around Hbf, parks, city centre, Connewitzer Kreuz and on night buses. During the day it’s usually quite chill though.

I'd say it's pretty safe to travel around Leipzig. In the downtown area, there are always people around, so it's quite safe, also alone. With public transport, it's easy to get around. Going by car is also possible, but traffic can get pretty bad. Other than that, going by bike is also nice and definitely doable.
