It's overall safe, but always be aware of your surroundings, and don't make yourself a target like putting your phone in your back pocket. It will get stolen! Areas in the Sheffield city centre and the Moor are, in my opinion, risky, as when it reaches the evening there, you may be harassed so avoid that.

Safe to travel around and lovely people who are very friendly Lots of nice places to see if you like the nature Some areas can be seen a rough like any city but usually its safe to stay our especially in the town centre till late in the evening
Posted: August 18, 2025As with anywhere else in UK. Be sensible and don't go out alone after dark . Avoid dark alleys and off the beaten tracks if on own. Most people are friendly and helpful. I tend to hike in groups and there and many groups visiting the surrounding peak district.

Hi, I’m Rachael. I love long distance hiking/running as well as anything foodie related. I also love just being in nature, as well as animals - my dream trip would be to see the chimpanzees or orangutans.
