As with anywhere else in UK. Be sensible and don't go out alone after dark . Avoid dark alleys and off the beaten tracks if on own. Most people are friendly and helpful. I tend to hike in groups and there and many groups visiting the surrounding peak district.
Posted: March 10, 2025Sheffield is a live city at night, and it is known for its student nightlife. For this reason, I feel safer on a night, the university is like an urban jungle and covers areas of the city. There are areas in Sheffield, like any city, which feel less safe but I have never felt afraid. I have felt uncomfortable a few times after being catcalled however.
Posted: February 2, 2025I’d say it’s an underrated city, with lots of history. Good night life, cheap drinks and safe to go around at night. like every city it does have some unhinged people however they are easy to spot and shouldn’t bother you if you steer clear.

Having lived here until I was 18 and then on and off since then, I am now 32, I have never had any unsafe experiences and feel very safe cycling around the city at my primary source of transport, I have always walked home alone in the dark and felt very safe also.
Posted: August 13, 2024Sheffield is a friendly, open and safe place to live and explore. I feel extremely comfortable here, especially with my girlfriend, when I go out in the day and at night. As with all cities, the night hours can be a bit more daunting, but I do feel safe here.
Posted: June 24, 2024Sheffield is super safe, I feel confident to walk around my neighbourhood after dark. The city is full of lovely people, including loads of young students so I always feel surrounded by similar aged people to myself.

I love to dance, especially Argentinian tango, I crossed an ocean for it! I can take you to experience tango social dancing events, called 'milongas' I'm empathic, creative, and I have a wicked sense of humour. I've had some rather interesting life experiences, people say I should write a book! Children are fun for me, their creativity and authenticity is astounding! I can play with them for hours, and often do! I enjoy chatting about life, the complexities of being a human, the world of tango, and how different perspectives and beliefs impact our behaviour and relationships and shape our world....although my conversations usually include a rather large amount of far more ridiculous things! I lived in Argentina for almost 2 years, I speak Spanish & teach English, happy to help with either language! 🎶🕺💃🙃
