Safety at night:Moderate

Northern Ireland is generally safe for solo female travelers. However, like in any part of the world, safety can vary significantly depending on the area and time of night. It's advised to stay in well-lit, populated areas and to avoid walking alone late at night whenever possible. Public transport and taxis are widely available, providing safer options for nighttime travel.
Public transportation:

Public transportation in Northern Ireland is generally safe. Bus and train services like Translink provide reliable and secure commuting options. Services are well-regulated, drivers are professional and most travelers use it without any issues. It's typically safe at all times of the day, however, as with any major city in the world, extra vigilance is recommended during late-night hours.
Street harassment:

Street harassment:Low

Northern Ireland generally consists of friendly and welcoming people. Cases of street harassment are not common and widely frowned upon. Respect and courtesy to everyone are deeply ingrained in local culture. However, like any place, it's always important to remain aware of your surroundings and stay cautious. Mild cases may still occur, particularly around nightlife areas late at night, but they tend to be the exception rather than the rule.
Petty crimes:

Petty crimes:Low

Petty crimes such as pickpocketing or bag-snatching are relatively low in Northern Ireland, particularly when compared to other larger cities in the UK. However, as with any travel destination, it is always advisable to remain vigilant and cautious regarding your belongings and personal safety. Almost all areas are safe to walk in daylight and at night, provided regular safety precautions are observed.

Solo travel

I felt very safe and I stayed on the botanical backpackers hostel which is a female only hostel, very clean and organized. I spend St Patrick’s day in Belfast and it was amazing, there was lots of people but it wasn’t as crowded as other parts of Ireland.

Solo travel

I traveled alone to Northern Ireland. I got off the ferry and a nice taxi driver offered to take me around the areas of The Trouble. It was worth it. I saw all the murals and the Peace Wall, the huge cranes that built the Titanic and its sister ships, the Europa hotel, which was constantly bombed. I stayed at a B&B in Portrush. Beautiful place and the friendliest people in the world.

Solo travel

I had a short holiday (2 days) in Northern Ireland last year and it was amazing. I spent my time around Port Stewart and the Giant's Causeway. The scenery was beautiful. An amazing beach in Port Stewart and friendly people.
