The streets are often well-lit, and the city centre is usually bustling with people, even late into the night. Using main roads, rather than shortcuts or dimly lit alleyways, can also enhance your safety in the city. The presence of CCTV cameras and passenger guidelines add extra layers of security to their public transportation.

Street harassment:Low

Cambridge, is known for its educational institutions, and generally, possesses a safe and welcoming atmosphere. While isolated incidents of street harassment may occur, they are not common. It is always important for solo female travelers to remain vigilant, especially during the late evenings. However, as in any urban area, it's always important to remain vigilant, especially in crowded places where pickpocketing might occur. Is Cambridge safe to travel?

Solo travel experience

I went to Cambridge to study for a week. it was my first trip abroad and I was alone, as an anxious person I can say that Cambridge is safe, people are helpful and kind. it is a very popular place for tourists and students, full of parks and it's quite clean. it's easy to find your way around (except for the parks... they're all similar and I always got lost), I used the bus to move from one side of the city to the other, but it's also doable on foot, however the ticket didn't cost much. I was there to study in the morning, so I had breakfast and then went to class, during the afternoon I loved going to the bookshop (Waterstones) and ate at Byron's (the best burgers I've ever eaten). I often went to the park or visited nearby towns (for example, I saw Shakespeare's house). I had a budget of £100, and I came home with some left over. It's a truly beautiful place, I fell in love with it.

Is Cambridge safe for women?

Caiti

Get a bike- you feel much safer. I wouldn’t walk through parks at night but I often cycle. Ive seen men trying to take extremely drunk women home from wetherspoons and that does sort of worry me. But it is a fairly young city so there are people around. I grew up quite centrally and our neighbour had her neck slashed open at 5pm one dark December night, at the bottom of our road. Theres quite a lot of drug users around which can make it feel unsafe in places. But generally it feels ok.

Is Cambridge worth visiting?

Solo travel experience

The university has a vibe of dignity. There was a former student sharing her studying experience and the history behind each of the school architecture, which was an unforgettable experience. I'm glad that I chose to go to Cambridge.
