Loved seeing the old historic buildings and especially the buildings that surround the center. It does get a bit boring if you are staying there for more than a couple days. But it has great transport and feels very safe

Cambridge is really close to Stansted airport, i just took a train to go there. It is a place full of history and you can feel the studious and chill atmosphere. Do not hesitate to do a river tour. You will see the back of the universities with some informations from your guide and it worth it.
Posted: May 13, 2024I went to Cambridge to study for a week. it was my first trip abroad and I was alone, as an anxious person I can say that Cambridge is safe, people are helpful and kind. it is a very popular place for tourists and students, full of parks and it's quite clean. it's easy to find your way around (except for the parks... they're all similar and I always got lost), I used the bus to move from one side of the city to the other, but it's also doable on foot, however the ticket didn't cost much. I was there to study in the morning, so I had breakfast and then went to class, during the afternoon I loved going to the bookshop (Waterstones) and ate at Byron's (the best burgers I've ever eaten). I often went to the park or visited nearby towns (for example, I saw Shakespeare's house). I had a budget of £100, and I came home with some left over. It's a truly beautiful place, I fell in love with it.

Cambridge is a fairly safe city, but I would still not walk home alone at night with headphones on. Like in most towns, people get loud after a night out, but few bother you. The main thing that gets stolen is bicycles, as that’s the main mode of transportation- you can get anywhere in 10/15mins tops. Because of this, it’s worth always using a D or U lock and making sure it’s locked to something, not just itself. If you’re a pedestrian, you MUST look both ways before stepping off the payment, even a foot, or someone may collide with you - there are electric scooters and cyclists typically going both ways, and cars. Don’t be fooled by the pretty cobbled streets, they are functioning roads and have people or cars whizzing down them all day and night, tourists will have a leisurely mosey smack in the middle of them, often stopping completely to take photos. When they do they are playing with serious injury and relying on the cyclist being skilled at stopping or swerving at high speed.
Posted: September 12, 2024Safe city. Surely depends on which area however central and north Cambridge are very safe. Just use logic like not walking late in secluded roads. However, even personally I have had to walk late at night with no worries or problems!
