It was a big city, it was a bit loud but pretty. Much to see. I felt somewhat safe, saw people smoking weed in the streets. The food could have been better, much junk food chains. It was a bit cheap.
Posted: October 2, 2024Manchester is an absolutely gorgeous city. I can highly recommend going to museums as they offer a variety of interesting things. Apart from that I never felt so safe in terms of being Queer, I think the existence of the “gay village” existing says it all. Neurodivergency was also not a problem, when I was overwhelmed in the museum of Manchester, the staff kindly showed me to the dedicated quiet space. You need to come here if you love diversity, whether it’s in people, architecture or activities. Just awesome!

Stayed in Manchester with a few mates for a New Year’s black tie event was absolutely amazing, but it’s quite expensive to stay in Manchester, but would strongly recommend as it was a great experience
Posted: January 15, 2024Experienced: December, 2023Manchester during the holidays was a lot of fun! Great and safe public transport options that got me from the airport to the city center quickly. Great museums and Christmas markets. As with any big city, you have to be aware of your surroundings, but I didn’t feel like I had to worry about safety while I was there. The Christmas markets had a lot of great food that wasn’t too expensive. Tons of fun!

Manchester is quite safe but there have been some anti immigration riots recently. I generally feel fine walking about and getting home in after dark. Of course it is important to take the usual steps for safety but that would be the same in any big city .
Posted: August 23, 2024Manchester is very safe there are a few issues maybe around nightlife in certain areas of the city centre but overall it’s very safe. Some of the suburbs are a bit rough but no rougher than anywhere else in the uk

Hi Interested in travelling and seeing new places, meeting new people. In the past, I have travelled to Australia/Asia/European countries and wish to speak with others that can help me with places of interest locally to where I’m going whilst travelling. I enjoy sightseeing and visiting tourist attractions but I do prefer to see how the locals live, the lesser known regions are of interest to me. I often travel outside the main city centres to other regions so this platform is a good way to enquire into places I may wish to visit along my journey. I’m fortunate to have had many really positive travel experiences with natives when I travel solo. I also travel with my children but we have our own schedule just for us as a family. I am now looking to expand my solo travels a little further than Europe any guidance or support would be most useful. Thanks. Michelle

I'm an arts and heritage professional who loves to travel, and lives where I live. I usually have a good beat on food, culture and fun stuff happening in my city for work, as well as the city's hidden gems.

I currently work in Brazil in the field of data analytics and I am planning to study English in Manchester UK for a duration of 3 months. At 30 years old, I consider myself to be a tidy, friendly, and calm. While my English proficiency is not yet at an advanced level, I am determined to improve it during my trip.
