Is Newcastle-upon-Tyne safe for solo female travelers?

Newcastle-upon-Tyne is generally safe for solo female travelers. The city has a vibrant, friendly atmosphere, and people are known to be welcoming. Petty crimes such as pickpocketing can happen, especially in crowded areas and on public transportation, so vigilance is required, especially at night. Most areas are safe to explore, but like everywhere, there are locations you may want to avoid, particularly at night. Taking usual precautions like not flashing valuable items, walking in well-lit and populated areas after dark should keep you safe. It is always recommended to stay alert and keep aware of your surroundings.

About me

Hi, I'm new to this solo travelling mullarkey! My first ever alone trip was a visit to New Orleans in September 2019 which I enjoyed so much I couldn't wait to book my next trip. The pandemic put pay to that then life has got in the way since. I'm hoping to get away this year (2024) and if I'm lucky enough to do so I'm hoping I'll be lucky to meet some like-minded ladies too ✌🏻❤️
