I visited Birmingham with my mom and baby, and while it felt pretty safe overall, I was honestly underwhelmed. There were a lot of homeless people around, and the city felt very dirty, especially on the weekends. Airbnb rentals were surprisingly expensive, and while the food wasn’t bad, it was pretty average and not as affordable as I expected. The tourist attractions and historic sites were free, which was nice, but they didn’t really stand out. For 9 days, we spent around £2000, and it just didn’t feel worth it. I’ve never felt this unimpressed by a city before.
Posted: April 11, 2025Birmingham is big city a bit chaotic but very well connected by public transport. The Victoria square and the library are great places to spend the afternoon. Birmingham is multicultural so you cam also find great food from all around the world

I studied in birmingham. School activities are quite nice as in sports and so on. I lived in a student area which mostly felt safe. Weather is always grey so far but hoping for better. Everything is fairly expensive
Posted: April 16, 2024Experienced: December, 2023- stayed in Selina during my stay in Birmingham which was quiet but pretty nice hostel so that was sweet, didn’t really like the area though (walking around in early evening felt pretty unsafe) - had a yummy brunch and dinner and there was a realm of different types of food to eat - very walkable place and I’m sure there would be more to do in the summer but loved the vibes and the people so overall good experience !!
Posted: December 23, 2023Go to the top floor of the library to see the view of the city, stroll around the Jewellery Quarter and perhaps visit the local goldsmith museum. In the centre of Birmingham, there is a charming shopping gallery. In this gallery, there is a cosy place called Morridge, which is great for a moment of relaxation during a day of walking around the city.

Birmingham depends on the area of course - I'd stay out of the city centre and erdington side during the dark, the north is usually fine (Sutton and so), but it can get quite scary so i would just make sure you're aware at all times
Posted: March 29, 2025You cannot generalise Birmingham. I feel safe in the city center as long as I'm in crowded well lit areas. I'm comfortable using public transport to leave Birmingham mainly the train. If I am leaving significantly late I'd get a taxi as my transportation

Hey - I'm born in UK & have lived here all my life! I've always wanted to tour the world in particular Europe & India but need someone local to show me around. I'm willing to go anywhere really! Love exploring new places, sightseeing, lots of walking & a little bit of beach would be heaven! Just need a good lady tour guide to lead the way 😊 So.... feel free to get in touch!

Hi! I'm a 19 yo who is discovering life. I moved to the UK from Italy a few months ago and I'm temporarily staying at my parents' house. I came here with my boyfriend, but we recently broke up after almost 4 years together. We're in good terms so we're still living together, but I'm looking forward to find myself a job and my own house and discover life. I've never been really alone or independent, so now I'm learning to love my alone time, I'm finding new interests and I'm trying to make friends here since I don't have friends here. I love anything that's creative, peaceful and close to the nature. I'm not into adrenaline activities, rushing in general or the nightlife. I'd rather go to a library than go to a party to drink. I do like the idea of themed parties such as those ones that look like they came out of a book, but I've never been to one.
