For the most part, if you do the regular things we do in any larger city, you’ll be fine. It’s not as bad as Paris or Rome or any of the incredibly large cities though. Just be aware of people walking around you, keep your eyes open and don’t walk down alleys alone and you will be fine.
Posted: May 6, 2025You cannot generalise Birmingham. I feel safe in the city center as long as I'm in crowded well lit areas. I'm comfortable using public transport to leave Birmingham mainly the train. If I am leaving significantly late I'd get a taxi as my transportation
Posted: February 25, 2025Overall very safe and always people around to help any time. there will always be atleast something open 24hrs. well lit streets. all train stations are not that far from eachother, and theres a transport police line. theres shopping centres everywhere. there will always be help
Posted: February 24, 2025With every place, there is a good and bad. You have to be very vigilant in Birmingham. People can be friendly and nice, but you always have to be a bit wary about men’s intentions. Over the years knife crime has been very high in Birmingham.

Birmingham is good to travel until evening. There are a few concerns about harassment after night time but the police is really helpful. Public transport and cabs are available most of the times. Buses are safer

Birmingham is ok. It’s has a lot of work needed to make it better and I getting there but this will take time. It can be a cute day trip with some hidden gems to discover. The food scene is up and coming and there are some great music venues.
Posted: January 12, 2025Birmingham is safe for families Keep an eye on your bag And keep your purse and phone safe Watch your drinks on nights out and don't go back with strangers Be mindful of being over priced on nights out
Posted: December 25, 2024The city centre feels very safe to be around, even when it’s dark, as long as you stay in busy areas. There are lots of druggies walking around at night, and many homeless people during the day but they don’t often make you feel unsafe. The public transport feels mostly safe, but the later it is the more dodgy it feels. I often travel around Birmingham at night and have never had anything stolen from me or been touched by a stranger.

Birmingham is a safe place to travel even of your a sole traveller I'd always recommend normal caution and to remain vigilant of course but nothing of real concern There are certain areas that have higher crime rates but these areas can easily be avoided

I visited Birmingham with my mom and baby, and while it felt pretty safe overall, I was honestly underwhelmed. There were a lot of homeless people around, and the city felt very dirty, especially on the weekends. Airbnb rentals were surprisingly expensive, and while the food wasn’t bad, it was pretty average and not as affordable as I expected. The tourist attractions and historic sites were free, which was nice, but they didn’t really stand out. For 9 days, we spent around £2000, and it just didn’t feel worth it. I’ve never felt this unimpressed by a city before.
Posted: April 11, 2025Birmingham is big city a bit chaotic but very well connected by public transport. The Victoria square and the library are great places to spend the afternoon. Birmingham is multicultural so you cam also find great food from all around the world

Hi I'm Amy, I love being outside and active, hiking and all kinds of sports! I love finding quirky places, whether inside or outside and I'm a sucker for an ice cold pint!

Hey, I’m Misty, and I’m 45 years old. I was born and grew up in America, but have lived in the UK for the last 15 years. I live with my partner and French Bulldog, Karma, but I like to travel a bit more than they do 😁 I’m mainly interested in exploring Europe and the UK at the moment, but I’m still dreaming about the other places I want to explore! I’m a really low maintenance travel buddy if you ever need one. Happy to do my own thing, but I’ll also check to make sure you’ve not been murdered. Equally, I will literally talk your ear off, don’t encourage me by laughing at my jokes 😜
